We are executing NPTel (National Programme for technology Enhanced learning) The main objective of NPTEL program is to enhance the quality of engineering education in the country by developing curriculum based video and web courses. These resources are developed by IITs and IISc and funded by MHRD.

Training and Placements
The principal objective of the Cell is to enhance the professionalism and employability of the students of the college so as to facilitate the achievement of their career goals. Every year we are placing all eligible candidates to their renowned companies.
The Training and Placement Cell in the college arranges campus selection of students, personality development programmes, training for interviews and competitive examinations, industrial training for students, assistance for higher studies in India and abroad, and other career development schemes.

Extra Curricular and Co-curricular Activities
Wednesday Activity period (WAP): students pursue activities for their own interests and goals. Many students remain on campus every Wednesday to attend workshops, intensive subject seminars and other activities that dont fit the traditional academic calendar. Club Activities
SKIT Toastmasters Club
Aims at nourishing communication and leadership skills among the youth and to prepare them to meet the international standards of communication. SKIT Toastmasters club is the only one of its kind among the technical colleges in northern India.

Robotics Club
The objective of this club is to inculcate basic knowledge of robotics among the students to undertake project base learning.

Renewable Energy Club
The objective of this club is to promote awareness about the current energy scenario and energy resources.

Eco-friends Club

Welcome to new session!
Hope you had performed well in your university examination. Let me first congratulate to all SKITians, as SKIT has been selected worldwide in top 50 university in (India, China, Brazil, Korea, Mexico, and Poland) 6 countries for DB2 Academic Associate Certificate training (details attached). And credit goes to SKIT Faculty and especially to your seniors, who have done excellent job in previous training and certification. This time only 100 seats are available for this training and it is only for 5th Students of CS/IT branch. Hence, first it is mandatory for all students of CS/IT 5th Semester to get registered for this training by 2nd May 2011 in person to the undersigned. There would be on line test of RDBMS and SQL, to qualify for this test, final registration for training would be based on qualifying marks in the test. The tentative details of on line pre test and training is as follows:

Corporate Interface
SKIT emphasizes on extensive interaction with the corporate world to ensure a smooth career to all its students in the upcoming future.

The Training and Placement Office acts as an active interface between the students, faculty, and the corporate world to instigate continuous interaction with the industry, sharing the industry experiences, understanding industry needs and providing the required support to the corporate world.
Industrial visit is the most intensive methods of teaching that motivates students to explore things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from academic point of view.

SKIT is running distinctly practical and focused teaching methodologies according to the industry needs evolved through constant interaction with prominent professionals constituting the Industry and Academic Advisory Boards of the institute.

Infosys Campus Connect
Infosys launched this unique program in May 2004, with the aim of evolving a model with engineering colleges in India to build a vibrant talent pool which is IT industry ready. We have been declared as the premier institute by Infosys. SKIT has proudly witnessed 19 finalized batches from this program along with 4 batches running in the current academic year of 2010.

Campus Connect aims at evolving a model through which engineering institutions and Infosys can partner for competitiveness and enhance the pool of talent in the IT space. Through this initiative, Infosys will help with its experiences and work with the academia to plug in the gap to integrate learning with practical situations. This includes the creation of a project bank on the Infosys portal to give final year students practical experience in working on real life situations. The program also aims to provide a holistic view to the students to develop business and communication skills that are required to compete in the global arena. Infosys provides training to college professors in their global education center at Mysore. Along with this, the company is looking at providing sabbatical opportunity for professors to pursue applied research and looking at sharing industry projects for the students. IBMs Academic Initiative program aims at empowering students of today to face the challenges of the marketplace of tomorrow. The Academic initiative program facilitates a global model of partnership between industry and academia to drive evolving open standards-based IT skills - essentially in demand skills for an on demand world. PERSONALITY ENHANCEMENT

SKIT imparts training, support and consulting in the Faculty Development, Soft Skills Training, Behavioral Skills Training and outbound management programmes, which have been designed to tackle some of the most sensitive issues in industry.

Eco Friends Club
Environmental Education, Awareness and Training plays a significant role in encouraging and enhancing peoples participation in activities aimed at conservation, protection and management of the environment, essential for achieving sustainable development. The institute, therefore, accords priority for the promotion of non-formal environment education and creation of awareness among all sections of the society through diverse activities using traditional and modern media of communication.


Robotics Club
Robotics club at SKIT is actively involved in all kinds of robotic activities. The club was started with sincere efforts in year 2006. Since then, all robotic development related activities of the club are touching new heights every year.

The Club offers indispensible guidance, workshops and tutorials along with tools, equipments, components and workspace. The family meets periodically to discuss over matters such as the management of the workspace, workshops, projects and competitions.

We study Artificial Intelligence and build robots. We work to provide a forum for learning about everything from hardware to electronics to parts fabrication to programming, and to talk about theoretical and philosophical issues. The club is basically formulated with a vision to develop the analytical programming culture among students.

Students can join an existing project or start a new project. Its a community where professors, 1st year undergraduate student and a Masters student interact equally, study subjects without considering if its in curriculum or not.

A robotic workshop iTRIx was conducted by TRI technologies on micro-controller based robotics workshop where the art of designing and building robots was carried out by integration with a microcontroller. Students from across India participated in this workshop.

SKIT Renewable Energy Club
The mission of the Connecticut College Renewable Energy Club (REC) is to raise awareness on campus and act as a think tank to promote and undertake practical approaches for energy conservation and efficiency and renewable energies. We hope to keep Connecticut College as a leader in environmental stewardship through the presentation of innovative ideas and raising awareness on campus.

ISTE
The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional non-profit making society registered under the societies registration act of 1860. Association of Principals of Technical Institution was transformed into The Indian Society for Technical Education in 1968 with a view to broaden its activities to advance the cause of technological education.

The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.
Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various missions of the Union Government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, AICTE/DST/MIT/State Governments are well associated with the ISTE for programs relating to Technical Education.

As an individual member driven society of mobility practitioners the ownership of SAEINDIA wrests with its members who are Individuals from the mobility community, which includes Engineers Executives from Industry, Government Officials, Academics and Students

SAEINDIA is an affiliate society of SAE International registered in India as an Indian nonprofit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of mobility industry in India.
The founding principle of the SAE International is to unite scientific and technical staff to perform free academic discussions, to dedicate themselves to the cause of prospering the science and technology for automotive vehicles and to make contributions to speed up the modernization of automotive industry.
A great deal of effort has been expended to make these definitions suit this purpose. It is recognized quite well by both SAEINDIA and SAE International which keeps on raising its bar on standards since like linguistic dictionaries; even our efforts and purpose must be revised periodically to reflect current usage and changing needs.
Techinova Society for CS/IT Department
TechInnova - a technical society of CS and IT departments, in its broadest sense encompasses all aspects of computing technology. techInnova, as an academic discipline, focuses on meeting the needs of users within an organizational and societal context through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies. techInnova is an academic discipline distinct from computer engineering, Information technology, computer science and management information systems. techInnova hosts various technical events like software engineering and development, computer networking and communications, Web technologies, computer security, database management, and digital media technologies related events. Under the flagship of techInnova we have launched Industry Initiatives to provide more and more Industry oriented engineering education with Major software companies like IBM, Infosys etc.

The key objectives of the techInnovas Industry Initiatives are:
Develop strategic linkages with Industry
* Promote high quality education - By providing state-of-the-art support from software development companies
* Focus on Open standards technologies, which are very critical for the future of IT industry
* Increase/enhance emerging technologies for students in getting exposure to the latest technologies and develop student resource for the application and use of these technologies
* Help in the development of highly skilled computer professionals
By merging IBM academic Initiative and techInnovas Industry Initiatives, we had following technical sessions on various technologies in past:
1. Tivoli Storage Manager(TSM Express) Induction Program
2. TSM training for Certification.
3. Tivoli Assessment test.
4. Tivoli On line Certification test.
5. The Great Mind Challenge Work Shop.
6. Training on Web Sphere Application Server(WAS-CE)
7. Hands on Practice on Eclipse- An Integrated Development Environment to develop web Based Software(Java based tool)
8. DB2- most powerful Data Base technology: training with relation to Management Information Systems.
.... and few more training sessions are in pipeline.
During these various session IBM has distributed Software CDs, study material, hands on lab guide etc. Free certification coupons have distributed. In this way all these session were excellently endorsed by students from all branches. In future we will try to extends this marriage(IBM academic Initiative and techInnovas Industry Initiative ) in more professional way in coming semesters.
