To promote technical education in this area Govt. has taken many steps. Govt. Polytechnic Lehragaga is already running in the campus of the Institute since 1996. The institute is named after renowned freedom fighter of Parja Mandal movement Baba Hira Singh Ji Bhattal Late father of Ex Deputy Chief Minister Sardarni Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

In the era of extreme revolutionary global flux, the field of Engineering & Technology becomes the pivotal point on which the synergized and all pervasive development of a nation relies heavily. Seeing the issue from syntagmatic and paradigmatic standings, the mirrored thesis reflects the significance in terms of transition and transcendence of a nation with an aimed destination of merging into global standards of quality and excellence. Centering the discourse into the current argument, Govt. of Punjab is committed to make a strong position in the mentioned field of TECHNOLOGY to move along with the globe. UNDERGRADUATE COURSES
Introduction
The mission of the college is to prepare emerging Computer Professionals capable of meeting the requirements of present and future with concept oriented subject knowledge supplemented on practical orientation to face the challenges of the modern computer industry. The college has been running B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering from this onwards. The college has well-equipped labs, extensive library facility and team of well qualified staff members. The college library and seperate seminar room equipped with L.C.D and Data projectors and PA systems. Theory goes hand in hand with practical session for ideal learning. For each curriculum requirement, there is seperate lab facility in the college. All labs are equipped with latest state of art hardware and software.

Labs
CSE Laboratory 1:
It is an exclusive lab with forty systems of different reputed brands out of which there are RAID capable server machine hosting various server softwares like Novell Netware 5.1 and 3.12,SCO Unix ,Redhat Linux e.t.c.The lab offers a comprehensive range of licenced software packages including Borland C++, Visual Studio, Java, MS Fortran, Office 2000 e.t.c.Video Editing and capturing facilities are also available in the lab. Students of all departments utilise the facilities to enhance their basic programming and software development skills. This lab has a good collection of latest state of art of equipments such as Pentium range of computer systems and various supporting peripheral equipments.

Hardware Laboratory
The hardware lab gives the students an insight in learing various hardware aspects of computer systems.The students get real time exposure to assembling, troubleshooting various computer systems and related peripherals.This lab helps the students to build up a thorough knowledge in basic components of computers.

Department of Electrical Engg
Introduction:
Creativity has been the prime intention of Engineers and the Electrical and Electronics Department of this College is making an all out effort in this regard. This Department has not only got the technical competence but is also facilitated with all modern equipments. The following laboratories share the activities in this Department.

ctrical Workshop
This facilitates the conduct of workshop practices, which not only gives a practical exposure to electrical wiring but also in costing, estimation and in determining standards.

ctrical Machines Lab
The lab is particularly well equipped with the latest in the range of motors and generators, both DC and AC. Experiments based on transformers, AC and DC machines are performed exhaustively. Testing apparatus for high current systems and UPS/Inverters are also available.

Electrical Measurements Lab
The lab aims at familiarizing the students with a wide range of PMMC and MI meters and acquainting them with experiments ranging from verification of Super postion theorem to sophisticated measurements using AC and DC bridges. The students are also trained in Advanced sophisticated instruments like power energy and harmonic analyzers. Real time data interfacing and computerized analysis are also a part of this lab.

Advanced Electrical Engineering Lab
The study of advanced machine functioning, microprocessor based technologies, thyristors and various other practicals covering pneumatic control systems and magnetic amplifiers are dealt with in this lab. It helps students to channelise their technical knowldedge to go hand in hand with the current technological development.

Department of Electronics & Comm. Engg.

The inevitable part played by electronics and communication engineering field has made it an integral part of the modern day engineering institution.the department helps to maintain the right blend of theory and practice and enables the students to have a firm grasp of basic principles in enhancing their ability to design practical circuits and connections. five core labs are funtioning under this Department.

Electronic Circuits Lab
This lab aims at acquainting the student with the basics of electronic principles and components. Experiments involving amplifier circuits, oscillator circuits and regulator circuits employing a wide range of transistors and FETs are performed here.

Pulse Circuits Lab
Timing circuits involving multiibrators, relaxation oscillator and voltage sweep generators are some experiments performed in this lab.

Digital and Microprocessor Lab
This well- equiped lab is backed by the latest in digital microprocessor-based techniques.here the student are trained in experiments involving a wide range of logic gates, adders, flip-flops, shift regisers, counters etc . stepper motor interface and waveform generation add to these experiments.

b>Linear IC Lab
uited to the emerging trend in the electonic industry from discrete components to linear ICs , this lab helps the students in their pursuits. experiments with analog ICs and Opamps are conducted in this lab .

Communication and Microwave Lab
Commmunication engineering has been given a special place in the academic curriculum. This lab promote the students practical knowledge in these areas by familliarizing them with a large number of analog and digital modulation and demodulation technique, design of various filters and advanced topics like optical communication system, TDM etc. This lab is equipped with a variety of microwave instruments giving the students the right approach to tackle problems in this field.

Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering aims to provide education of international class enabling the students to develop the ability to design,plan,engineer and manage the latest technologies in the field of Mechanical Engineering .The Department also aims to develop high caliber professionals by providing technical knowledge through high quality teaching supplemented with practical exposure.

Mechanical Workshop
Students get first hand experience in modern welding techniques, Foundry, Sheet metal works, Forging and other related work.

Machine Shop
The backbone of Mechanical Engineering Department,which includes,various machines like Lathes, Shapers,Pantograph, Planing Machines etc.

Fluid Mechanics Lab
This lab includes pipe friction apparatus, Reynolds Apparatus, Jet on Vane Apparatus,Rotameter, Orifice meter etc.

Fluid Machinery Lab
The various equipments Turbines (Kaplan, Francis, Pelton Wheel) and assorted Pumps (Reciprocating,Centrifugal, Gear).

Strength of Materials Lab
This lab is equipped with Universal Testing Machine, Torsion testing machine and Hardness Testing machine.

Thermal Engineeering Lab
The core lab of Mechanical Engineering includes air compressors, single cylinder diesel engine test rigs and Ambassador engine to give in-depth knowledge in their working and application.

Instrumentation Lab
The lab gives practical exposure to LVDTs, LDRs, Planimeter, Vapour Refrigation test rigs etc.

HMT Lab
The equipments include Viscometer, Bomb and Gas Calorimeter, Vapour Refrigeration test rigs etc.

CAD/CAM Lab
This lab incorporates the latest CAD software packages into the curriculum of the students.They are exposed to the inricacies of CAD engineering.

Department of Computer Engg. and Information Technology
Introduction
The mission of the college is to prepare emerging Computer Professionals capable of meeting the requirements of present and future with concept oriented subject knowledge supplemented on practical orientation to face the challenges of the modern computer industry. The college has been running Diploma programme in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from this onwards. The college has well-equipped labs, extensive library facility and team of well qualified staff members. The college library and seperate seminar room equipped with L.C.D and Data projectors and PA systems. Theory goes hand in hand with practical session for ideal learning. For each curriculum requirement, there is seperate lab facility in the college. All labs are equipped with latest state of art hardware and software.

CSE Laboratory 1:
It is an exclusive lab with forty systems of different reputed brands out of which there are RAID capable server machine hosting various server softwares like Novell Netware 5.1 and 3.12,SCO Unix ,Redhat Linux e.t.c.The lab offers a comprehensive range of licenced software packages including Borland C++, Visual Studio, Java, MS Fortran, Office 2000 e.t.c.Video Editing and capturing facilities are also available in the lab. Students of all departments utilise the facilities to enhance their basic programming and software development skills. This lab has a good collection of latest state of art of equipments such as Pentium range of computer systems and various supporting peripheral equipments.


Hardware Laboratory
The hardware lab gives the students an insight in learing various hardware aspects of computer systems.The students get real time exposure to assembling, troubleshooting various computer systems and related peripherals.This lab helps the students to build up a thorough knowledge in basic components of computers.

Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lehragaga is situated on Sunam-Zakhal Highway which makes its approach ultra easy. Admission Notice
The admission to this institute is made as per the govt. notifications and through CET conducted by PTU Jalandhar. Some seats if remain vacant in the councelling can be filled directly as per govt. policy in this regard.
The addmission is generally made in the month of July/August every year extendable as per govt. policy for that year 15% SEATS are for other states and 85% from Punjab domicile. If Punjab students do not fill their quota these seats are allotted to other state students. Presently the institute has about 100 students from other states including Delhi, Bihar, UP and other neigbouring states and UTs. The hostel expenses as are very less as compared to private self sustainable engg. colleges of the state. Hostel rent and mess expenses are as per old govt. rates best suitable for students from other states.

The last date for Direct Admission has been extended upto 07/10/2010 and Open Counseling for Diploma and Degree courses will be held on 07th Oct. 2010 at 03:00 P.M. for remaining vacant seats.

Three arrested for killing classmates

The Barnala police have arrested three students of Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology for murder of two of their classmates. DSP Barnala City Rupinder Sharma said,' A missing report was lodged by parents of Amit Sharma, of Ludhiana, and Madhoop Kant Jha, of Bathinda, on January 4.'

During investigations, it was found that the two boys had met the accused in Sangrur on January 2. They reportedly consumed drugs together.

Later, when the deceased did not give the accused their cellphones and laptops to buy more drugs, they were given coke laced with pesticide. They were then taken to a canal nearby and thrown into the water, he said.

The police narrowed down on the accused by tracing their phone calls. During interrogations, the three boys confessed to the crime. Those arrested are Gurjeet Singh, a resident of Nabha, Prithpal Singh, a resident of Mansa, and Baljinder Singh, a resident of Hamirgarh village. All the boys used to live in the college hostel.

The police, however, could not find the two bodies. 'Our divers were unable to locate the bodies. We will have to wait till the surface,' said Sharma.

The accused wanted money for drugs, which led to the killings. The laptops and phones of the deceased were recovered from them, he added.
