R Day function at RIMT college

A function was organised to mark the Republic Day at RIMT College of Education, Mandi Gobindgarh today. The function was presided over by the Principal, Dr Rajwant Kaur. Students presented a programme on the 57th anniversary of the Republic Day.

The programme started with the recitation of Shabad, followed by patriotic song.

Besides, the students were also acquainted with the history of Indian struggle and sacrifices of Indian soldiers for the sake of the country. The programme also included recitation of patriotic poems and dance performances by the students. The Principal of the college called upon the students to inculcate the true spirit with strong moral values.

Students get into Teej spirit

The students of the RIMT Institute of Management and Technology, the Gobindgarh Institute of Management and Technology and the RIMT College of Education, organised a Teej function on the campus of the RIMT Management Institute recently.

The celebrations presented a riot of colours as the girl students attired in typically Punjabi bright-coloured traditional suits performed giddha. They also sang songs of sawan and enjoyed swings. The students also enjoyed ‘maalpuda’ and ‘kheer’.

The function was inaugurated by social worker Neena Bansal, joint chair- person of the RIMT group of educational institutes. Welcoming the chief guest, the director of RIMT-IMCT, Dr B.S. Bhatia, said it was everyone’s moral duty to carry along the precious, but fast-fading cultural heritage. He outlined the importance of Teej.

Mehndi and rangoli competitions were also organised. The winners were: mehndi — Shweta (1); Tapinder (2); Rajwinder (3); rangoli — Gauri (1); Kavita (2); Nitu (3).

Doraha: Teeyan festival was celebrated in the premises of the D.N. Everest Model High School, Jaspalon, on Saturday. The students were dressed in Punjabi attire. Tiny tots presented a colourful programme of songs and dance.

Mr Pankaj Sharma, Principal, motivated the little ones to participate in such cultural activities. On this occasion, the girls from secondary classes performed gidda and kikli.

‘Miss Punjaban’ and ‘Mr Punjab’ contests were also organised. From junior group (Ist to 5th class) ‘Miss Punjaban title went to Simranjeet Kaur, first runner-up was Ravneet Kaur and second runner-up was Sumandeep Kaur.

‘Mr Punjab’ title was bagged by Jashandeep Gurm and first runner-up was Karampreet Singh.

In the senior group (6th to 8th class) ‘Miss Punjab title went to Balwinder Kaur, first runner-up was Damanpreet Kaur and second runner-up was Rupinder Kaur.

‘Mr Punjab’ title went to Arvinder Singh and first runner-up was Jagdeep Singh.

On this occasion, Mr Rajinder Sharma, president, Association of the Punjab School Education Board-affiliated schools, Punjab (regd), presided over the function.

NCTE appeal order for RIMT College of Education Mandi Gobindgarh

O R D E R

WHEREAS the appeal of RIMT College of Education (Shri Om Prakash Bansal Educational and Social Welfare Trust), Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab dated 26-06-2009 is against the Order No. F.NRC-NCTE-F-7-PB-671-140 MEETING-2009-4116 dated 10-06-2009 of the Northern Regional Committee, refusing recognition for conducting M.Ed course on the grounds” Deficiency has not been removed in the stipulated period”.

AND WHEREAS the Correspondent, RIMT College of Education (Shri Om Prakash Bansal Educational and Social Welfare Trust) (hereinafter referred to as the appellant), preferred an appeal dated 01-07-2009 to the National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi (hereinafter referred to as the Council) under Section 18 of the NCTE Act, 1993 against the said Order.

AND WHEREAS Dr. Rajwant Kaur, Principal, RIMT College of Education (Shri Om Prakash Bansal Educational and Social Welfare Trust), Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab presented the case of the appellant institution on 20.08.09. In the appeal and during personal presentation it was submitted that some documents were demanded by NRC, upto 4th May,2009 which were dispatched on 17th April,2009. But their file was closed by the Council in its 140th Meeting held on April 25-26,2009 before the lapse of stipulated time allotted to them .

AND WHEREAS the Council noted that NRC issued a deficiency letter on 04.02.09 inter-alia informing the institution to submit- building plan indicating built-up area for each course and building completion certifictae. It further noted that the building completion certificate submitted by the institution was issued by an artitect, undated and it stated 1515 sq. mt. of building was complete in all respects and this area was not adequate, for the existing B.Ed and proposed M.Ed programmes; Further building plan was also not approved by the competent civic authority and it indicated only 1208 sq. mt. of built-up area, from Ground floor to third floor of the building. In view of the above, the Council came to the conclusion that there was no justification in accepting the appeal, and that it should be rejected.

AND WHEREAS after perusal of documents, memorandum of appeal, affidavit, VT Report and after hearing oral arguments advanced during hearing, the Council reached the conclusion that there was no ground to accept the appeal and that it should be rejected. Accordingly, the appeal was rejected and NRC’s order dated 10-06-09 was confirmed.

NOW THEREFORE, the Council hereby confirms the Order appealed against.
