This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing the foundation stone laying and Bhoomi Poojan ceremony of Maharaja Agarsen University in private sector in Atal Shiksha Kunj at Kalu Jhanda in Baddi-Barotiwala- Nalagarh area, in district Solan today. Chief Minister said that the State would not permit exploitation of State youth by any educational houses coming up in the State and protect their interests at all costs. He said that local students had to be provided preference in admission to various courses being taught by universities and other educational houses. He said that the State Government was considering construction of a ropeway to connect Kalu Jhanda Atal Shiksha Kunj with Kasauli heights to give boost to tourism activities in the area. He hoped that Journalism would be one of the major educational curriculum in the Aggarsen University coming up. Prof. Dhumal said that the State had saved 270 MW electricity by distributing 4 CFL bulbs free of cost to 16 lakh domestic consumers. He said that additionally it had saved the State of emission of green house gases and fragile ecology of hill State being protected. He said that Rs. 80 crore Scheme was also named after Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee, known as Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna. Chief Minister said that the State Government was expanding "Prashashan Janta Ke Dwar Par" programme to redress grievances of the common-man at their doorsteps. He said that all officers had been directed to accord top priority to redressal of public grievances instantly so that people were not burdened with spending their time and money over such matters. He said that he himself had been listening the public grievances wherever he visited and held public meetings etc., which was providing relief to the people. Prof. Dhumal said that Himachali youth were hard working and capable of delivering best of their services even in adverse geophysical conditions. He said that the State Government had been demanding change in recruitment policy for armed forces by abolishing the recruitable male Population Formula to admit more youth to take armed forces as their career. He said that First Param Vir Chakra Winner Major Som Nath hailed from Himachal and during Kargil operation out of four Param Vir Chakra awarded two were won by Himachalis. Chief Minister said that the State had started Atal Awas Yojna with a view to provide houses to the houseless families. He said that Atal Shiksha Kunj was a tribute to the great visionary leader whom globally recognized four universities were being established which would be producing best citizens and professionals. He said that first IT and BT Universities of the country had been set up in Himachal. Prof. Dhumal said that dream of making Himachal Pradesh a 'knowledge hub' was being realized, which had been envisioned and guided by former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee who had special attachment with the people of Himachal Pradesh. He said that Himachal Pradesh had congenial environment for academic pursuits. He said that all such facilities would go a long way in making the society highly literate and lead the nation towards 21st century to emerge as world leader in all respects. Chief Minister was joined by Swami Amar Jyoti Jee Maharaj in presentation of mementos to the trustees of the society. He also released special supplement of "Aggrani Sankalp" Swami Amar Jyoti Jee Maharaj lauded the visionary leadership state had which was helping the State acclaim distinctions at national and international level. He said that quality education was one of the initiative state Government was encouraging with private participation. Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister said that the State was making rapid strides under the stewardship of Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal in all sectors. He said that Atal Shiksha Kunj was emerging centre of par excellence learning in the country. He said that three more medical colleges were coming up in the State in public and private sectors. He said that four more medical colleges were also being opened in private sector. He said that 39 Nursing Training institutions were being set up in the State. Smt. Vinod Chandel, MLA also welcomed Chief Minister to her segment. She said that Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh area was emerging a hub of education and pharmaceuticals. Dr. Nand Kishore Garg, Chairman, Maharaj Aggarsen Technical Education Society welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries and lauded his role in making Himachal Pradesh a model State in the Country.
