Rogi Mitras to help patients
The director of Medical Education, Dr B. Vasantha Prasad, said all teaching hospitals in the state, would be equipped with Emergency Medicine Department (EMD) by end of March, next year. The services are required since the medical officers sometimes have to pay more attention to emergency cases, he said.
Patients requiring urgent treatment need not wait for a long time till their turn comes, and can report at the department for immediate treatment. Facilities such as urine culture to MRI would be available at the department, and this facility is new for teaching hospitals, he added.
Dr Vasantha Prasad said that the doctors have to start treatment within 3 minutes, whenever a patient comes to the ward, and the existing trauma centre in KGH has already been fulfilling the needs of an EMD.
The services would be improved further more with the commencement of the department, he said.
He also said that 500 additional medical seats in the entire state would be available from the next academic year.
KGH had submitted a proposal to improve the hospital service previously, and the Chief Minister agreed to provide Rs.30 crore for the facilities.
A meeting would held on Monday with officials concerned, he added.
