ABOUT THE CITY OF LAKES BATHINDA
Bathinda district is situated in southern part of Punjab state in the heart of Malwa region.
The district derives its name from the district headquarters town of Bathinda, which is of great historical importance.It was also called �bhatti vinda� and �bitunda� which finally came to be known as bathinda. The town was conquered by Maharaja Ala Singh (near about 1754 AD) and since then it was under the power of erstwhile princely state of patiala. With the dawn of independence and merger of Patiala and East Punjab states into divisions styled at PEPSU, Bathinda become full- fledged district.
Bathinda is the the largest city of Punjab and is developing fast in economic, social, educational and political fields. The present SAD-BJP alliance government plans to construct seven star hotel, international airport and world class cricket stadium in the city. Moreover world class real estate developers are opening up a string of shopping malls and residential colonies in the city. As a consequence of recent expansion the district is now receiving due attention in setting up of educational institutes. The Punjabi university Patiala has established regional center at Bathinda and at Guru Kashi at Talwandi Sado, for engineering, management and computer education. A government managed engineering college, polytechnic, a medical college are already functioning at bathinda for imparting degree and diploma courses for engineering and medical students respectively. There are also some degree colleges running science, commerce and humanity courses.
From the industrial point of view, this city has two thermal plants, National fertilizers Limited Plant, Ambuja Cements Plant., Bathinda Chemical Plant, Vardhman Polytex Limited, Verka Milk Plant etc. The city has come into prominence with establishment of Guru Gobind Singh Refinery Limited. It is a huge investment project with active involvement of famous industrialist L.N. Mittal, also known as Steel King. It is having Asia�s largest Army cantonment and an Air Force station at Bhisiana.

Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology is managed by Baba Farid Vidyak Society which was found in 1993 under the kind patronage of prominent educationists of Malwa Region of the State of Punjab. The society aims to provide quality education at affordable fee along with preparing the young minds to face the competitive world on all fronts.
The institute is situated 4kms. away from the municipal limits of Bathinda city on Bathinda-Muktsar road. It has a lush green campus spread over 50 acres. The institute offers a host of hi-tech ultra modern facilities to ensure smooth and well planned education for its students. The institute is being managed efficiently by an eminent educationist it�s Managing Director S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Bharat Jyoti Awardee)

How Baba Farid Institute Grew:
1993 - Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Bharat Jyoti Awardee)established the foundation of Baba Farid Institute with the Baba Farid School at Ajit Road, Bathinda.
1994 - Registration of Baba Farid Vidyak Society an Educational Society with several Educationists as Governing Members including Padam Shree Gyan Peeth awardee and World-famous Educationist Prof. Gurdial Singh as Chairman, Mr. Mantar Singh Brar (Ex MLA) as President and S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal as General Secretary.
2005 - Further Addition to the activities of the Society done by opening the Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School and establishment of Baba Farid Institute of Higher and Foreign Studies, in a new campus in Deon. Baba Farid Institute of Higher and Foreign Studies offers courses under the Baba Farid Degree College and Baba Farid College of Education.
2007 - The Baba Farid Global Innovation Centre was started with an MOU with the Australian Science and Management Academy, AUSTRALIA.
2008 - Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology was established to offer Under graduate courses in the field ofEngineering. In the same year, Baba Farid College of Management offering Masters In Business Administration was also established.

The blood donor squad will meet any blood requirement as and when it arises with in 50 km radius of the institute.

A Brief on his Career-Sketch
Dr. Jasbir S. Hundal was born on December 12th, 1963 in village; Bhana, District Faridkot, Punjab, India. He did B.Sc (non-medical) from S.D College, Pathankot in 1984, M.Sc and M. Phil degree in Physics from Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 1986 and 1988 respectively. During his M.Phil degree course he carried out research on �Preparation and Characterization of Cd:Se Metallic Glasses�. He received Ph.D degree for his thesis �Study of Piezoelectricity and Stored Polarization in Some Corona Charged Cyano Polymers� from Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (Earlier University of Roorkee) in 1998. He got the Post Doctoral Research Fellowship in 2001 and carried out the research work in the Materials Research Institute, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA (USA) on Actuators, Transducers and Relaxor Ferroelectric Polymers.

With subscription to national and international technical journals, it caters to the varied need of students and staff alike. All transactions of books are done through smart cards. The library also subscribes to all latest general and informative current affairs magazines.
Computer Lab
The college has centrally air conditioned ultra modern computer lab having LCD computers with latest configuration and 24 hours internet facility of 512 kbps lease line from BSNL broad band connection. It has been set up with the aim to improve the programming skills of student with a clear focus on computer organization. And various logic design techniques with up to date low level and high level languages and also gives an exposure to current trends in the subjects. With access to the World Wide Web, the students are encouraged to note study materials of concerned subjects and make presentation on it.
Sports
The college has excellent sports facilities for all outdoor and indoor games and adequate emphasis is given on all round growth and development of students. College has cricket ground, volley ball and basket ball court made available to students. A modern gymnasium with sophisticated exercise machines is available in the campus .Multi gym exercises are provided to the students. Students are encouraged to take part in sports activity of their choice and represent the college in different tournaments.
Hostels
The institute provides hostel facility separately for boys and girls housed within the campus. These hostels are fully equipped with ultra modern amenities for the students. These amenities include centrally air-cooled rooms with independent balconies, twenty four hour electricity backup, free lease line for internet services, attached bathrooms with geysers etc. The rooms are of 16*13 dimensions and have a capacity of accommodating two/three students. Adequate arrangement for indoor and outdoor games has been made for their leisure. Gym facility is provided and yoga classes are arranged for the hostlers inside the hostel itself. For recreational activities, proper arrangements for newspapers, magazines, T.V, music system have been made in common room .For security , efficient and adequate staff security provide round the clock watch.
