The penchant for more knowledge enhance his tendencies to further explore the hidden secrets of this universe. As the rays of wisdom withers away the darkness of ignorance the belief in knowledge further strengthen its importance . It has been widely accepted that Knowledge is a potential power if implemented otherwise it is of no use. A national strength lies not in the quantity of its inhabitants but the quality of the masses that counts . Without contemporary knowledge , a human being is of no worth . So to keep abreast in this competitive world every one should be provided opportunities to excel in desired field of interest. With the spontaneous changes in the requirements , imparting specialized education has got centre stage among the nations of the world and sub sequentially for the states too. To provide respectable livelihood to its citizens is the states responsibility . Due to substantial industrialization ,the industries has emerged as the major job creator in the job pool. Skilled labour in terms of Technicians / Diploma Holders / Engineers are the essential ingredients to establish an industrial unit. This is where the need of quality Technical education and vision to be remain ahead in the competitive world arises . The Department of Technical Education Haryana prepares the Technical managers/Scientists/Engineers/Supervisors and other professionals including skilled technicians through Post Graduate /Under Graduate and Diploma level institutions in the field of Engineering and Technology, Computer, IT, Management, Pharmacy Architecture, Hotel Management and Applied Arts and Crafts.
A need based steep hike from only 6 polytechnics (Govt.-4 and Govt. Aided-2) and only one Engineering College at Kurukshetra (Joint Venture of State Govt. and Govt. of India). with annual intake of 1341 Approximately at the time of inception of Haryana as a separate state in 1966, to 570+ with an Annual intake of 120000 Appx. and the process of addition of more Institutes is still on, tells the success story of the state and hence acceptance of Technical education among masses. Department of Technical Education Haryana owing the responsibility of the holistic growth of the pupil coming in to its folds is committed to make all possible efforts to help in realizing his dreams as well as the society to which he or she hails from. All the committed faculty and the supporting staff imparting technical education in the cities as well as interior rural areas of the state are praise worthy for their commitment and tolerance and it is sure that coming years will see more Kalpana Chawalas from this incubator of technical knowledge.

During current age of Knowledge-based society, science and technology, Technical education has assumed an irrefutably significant role and in that it has been making rapid strides in keeping pace with various current industrial innovations and technological advances. Technical Education department, which is primarily responsible for producing Technical Manpower in the form of Engineers, Managers, and supervisors/ Technicians, have now a greater responsibility to cater to the need of Industry which is passing through a transition phase. With the opening of the doors to multinational companies, Indian Industry is also adopting new technologies, improved methods of production and quality control, efficient machine tools and equipment. The Technical Education Department, Haryana, is fully geared up to work untiringly in three cardinal directions such as all round modernization, Total quality management and capacity expansion. Undeniably, every child is most ambitious dream of parents as well as of the nation. The entire future of the parents and the nation rest on how its younger generation launches itself in life. Barring few administrative jobs and medical and other profession it is only technical education on which one can pin his hopes and aspiration. Obviously, this very education can win laurels and glory for us for the entire humanity in this neck-to-neck-cut-throat competitive and heavily industrialized world.
In fact, all of a sudden, the demand for quality technical education has increased. Only a technically trained person can successfully make his debut in the present world of science and technology. The Department is taking all pains and making all out efforts to train young learners with novel techniques and method of instruction by exposing them to latest technology. The Department also takes meticulously to provide leadership qualities, scientific and organizational expertise, technical assistance and other resources and latest technical know how to fulfill the demands and needs of budding learners. Officials of the Directorate and particularly teachers of technical institutes stipulate multiple roles, which include instruction, instructional material development, curriculum development, research and innovation, testing and consultancy services etc. To perform the multiple roles, teachers need to develop competencies such as proficiency in subject matter, pedagogical knowledge and skills, managerial skills of motivating, decision-making and leadership etc.
