Histroy

Institute of Technology Bilaspur was set up in 1997, with the aim to create professionally competent manpower in the field of engineering and technology. Also known as IT Bilaspur, the institute is affiliated to Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.

Institute of Technology Bilaspur maintains constant interaction with the Industry through a range of academic and professional activities. All the courses offered at the institute have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, New Delhi. IT Bilaspur is well equipped with the state of arts facilities.

About the Institute

The Institute of Technology was established in the year 1997 for promoting the technical education in the region and to provide professionally qualified technical personnel to face the more competitive and enterpreneurial challeng. With the help of well qualified -experienced faculty, modern teaching aids, modern amenities, rich library, excellent - well equipped laboratories, computer facilities and other necessary infrastucture, the institute is intended to produce career-ready graduates, who are immediately employable, self reliant, self esteemed and ethical, so as to maintain the sancity of life. Presently some 50 teaching staff and visiting professors teach in the institute.

A Company implant training of 4 weeks duration is mandatory in the curriculum for industrial exposure to students, wherein students are provided practical training in reputed industrial unit/organization.

A good number of students have been qualified in the national & international entrance examination like GATE, CAT, MAT, GRE, GMAT, etc and are continuing with their higher studies in reputed institutions in India & abroad. The Training & Placement cell puts effort in arrainging various reputed industrial houses - campus interviews and in recruiting reasonable number of fresh engineering graduates of the Institute.

About the Director

Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Saha
Director, Institute of Technology
Dr. S.N. Saha did his B.Ch. E., M.Ch. E from Jadavpur University, Ph. D. from BITS Pilani. He has had one and half years research experience in Jadavpur University and Calcutta university. He has worked for two and half years in the Titagarh Paper Mills Co. Ltd. Dr. S. N. Saha has served BITS Pilani for more than 13 years as Asst. Lecturer, Lecturer and Asst. Professor. He joined as Professor and Head, Chemical Engineering of Beant College of Engineering and Technology(Established by Govt. of Punjab), Gurdaspur since 1st September 1996 for some 5 years and subsequently worked as the Principal of the same Engineering College. He has guided two lecturers of BITS Pilani and one of Govt. Engineering College of Punjab, out of which one of BITS Pilani has been awarded Doctorate degree.

He joined as a Professor of Chemical Engineeringw.e.f. 4th January 2003 and subsequently since 1st july, 2003 he has been working as the Director, Institute of Technology, Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur (C.G.). He is the dean of the faculty of Engineering of the same University. He has published 60 no. of research/technical papers in various National and International Journals/Conference proceeding. He is a National Award winner for best research paper for 1992-93. Dr. Saha has completed a number of UGC research projects and AICTE projects. His field of interest are Combustion Engineering, Fluidization Engineering Application and Industrial Pollution Control. He has been selected as Visiting Professor for 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 by Indian Society for Technical Education. He is the chairman of Board of Studies of Chemical Engineering of the University.
