Seminar on importance of teacher training held

BAIHATA CHARIALI, March 1 – As a part of the orientation programme of Baihata Chariali B Ed college, a seminar on importance of teacher training to improve the quality of teaching at secondary level was held recently at the conference hall of the college.

Participating the seminar as speaker Upendra Narayan Singh, senior lecturer of Mangaldoi Teachers Training College said that the educational scenario of the secondary level reflects on the technical ability of the teachers, therefore to improve the overall environment of education in secondary level teacher training is an important subject. Dineshwar Kalita, retired principal of Karara Higher Secondary School, another speaker of the seminar said that teachers training is a part and parcel of education system and it adds more ornaments in teaching learning process. Since teachers training is considered as practical training of teaching-learning process it should be compulsory in secondary level education.

Kalita also said that teachers training is a pre-requisite qualification to be a teacher of secondary level schools in Delhi, Kerala, Gujarat etc. But it is not still compulsory in Assam which causes heavy losses to the students and education system of the State.

Addressing the seminar as moderator, Sarat Chandra Deka, head of the Department of English Goreswar College said that only trainedteachers or quality teachers can produce quality students. Secondary stage is the fundamental stage of students and therefore it is the most crucial from learning point of view. Any damage done at this stage in teaching is likely to bring adverse results in the overall academic career of the learning. In the seminar, the keynote address was offered by Jadab Chandra Goswami, head of the department of Mathematics, Goreswar College.
