Profile of MM Engineering College (MMEC)

Established in 1995, MM Engineering College was the first of the long chain of educational institutions MM Education Trust (now known as the MM University) has been engaged in raising at Mullana. Starting with 180 seats of B.Tech in the branches of Computer Engineering , Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering, the College has grown manyfold both in the strength of students as well as in the number of disciplines. Just as the College expanded horizontally in size, it also rose vertically, acquiring the Post Graduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Science and Humanities, attaining the peak with the introduction of Ph.D programmes in various disciplines of knowledge. Combining in its rapid growth, the twin virtues of expansion and excellence, MM Engineering College has attained the status of a premier institution of Engineering and Technology in the entire region of North India which has also been recognized by the National Board of Accreditation (AIC TE) by according accreditation status to four disciplines of its B.Tech. programme.

Mullana engg college student among 2 laptop thieves held

CHANDIGARH: Special crime investigation cell of UT police has arrested two youths, including a BTech-II student of Maharishi Markandeshwar
Engineering College, Mullana, for allegedly stealing three laptops and one cell phone from hostel number 4 of Panjab University.

On of the accused Rahul Bhardwaj is a BTech student in Mullana college, while the other Deepak Khatola is a former student of same institute. Both the accused were produced in district court on Friday and sent to judicial custody. According to DSP (CID) Satbir Singh, Deepak was nabbed in the city, and Rahul from the college premises.

Sources say the laptops and cell phone were stolen six days back by Khatola, who used to stay illegally in hostel number 4, and managed to steal three laptops from different hostels.

Earlier, the cops had nabbed two brothers and recovered 13 stolen laptops from them.

Profile of Director

Prior to joining this College, Dr. N.P.Mehta was Principal, Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra and later on Director (VC), National Institute of Technology (Deemed University), Kurukshetra for about seven years. He has about 40 years experience in teaching/ research. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 1966 and did his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in 1972. He was awarded Ph.D by Allahabad University, Allahabad in 1982. He has held coveted positions such as Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology; Member, Executive Council and Academic Council of Kurukshetra University. He has about 100 research publications to his credit in national & international Journals. He won Sir Rajendra Nath Mukerjee Memorial Prize and Gold Medal - 2003 for the Best Paper in Mechanical Engineering. His Excellency, the Governor of Haryana, presented him 'The Outstanding Engineer Award,' on 36th Engineer's Day, Sept. 15, 2003.

Seven research scholars got Ph.D under his guidance and two are presently pursuing the same. Besides, he guided 16 M.Tech theses. He attended five international conferences abroad, twice in the USA (1984 & 2003), twice in Australia (1994 & 1998) and once in Japan (1990). He was Visiting Professor abroad for many years and visited countries such as the USA, Japan, Libya, Australia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Kenya, Tanzania etc. He was reviewer of Journal of Tribology Letters, The Netherlands. He is a life member of Indian Society of Theoretical Applied Mechanics (ISTAM) and Fellow, Institution of Engineers (India).
