Vice-Chancellor Messages
Today, when the geographical frontiers are shrinking and the world is engaged in drawing new boundaries of Knowledge Order, we, at Gautam Buddha University, have initiated a new model of Enlightened Education to cater to the needs of the transnational and pluricultural world. The new world order, controlled by the pervading market forces, prompts us to keep guard with a greater responsibility towards establishing supremacy of knowledge over the market forces. In this context, the institution should promote freedom of thought, and foster a greater responsibility to harness all our knowledge and skills for the multidimensional growth of the society. The University has taken up this challenge to serve as a center for excellence in education and training so that the lower-end skilled workers, as we are, may turn in to high-end contributors in an overall growth of the society.

With a three dimensional approach in our endeavor, we are meaningfully engaged in redefining knowledge, helping our students acquire that and training them to put that into practice. We foster our mission for excellence in education and training coupled with a value-based intellectual growth. Our Mission is carried out by our accomplished faculty, recruited and groomed in accordance with the practices in reputed national and international institutions.

We have established four schools of learning: School of Management, School of Information & Communication Technology, School of Biotechnology and School of Humanities & Social Sciences. In future, we will establish four new schools of learning: School of Law & Social Justice, School of Vocational Studies, School of Engineering & Design, and School of Buddhist Studies & Civilization.

A huge sports ground with an eight lane track is shaping physical health of its inmates.

Shauryotasva, annual sports meet aims at motivating students participate and add physical extensions to their intellectual quests. Recently concluded the first sports meet Shauryotasva 09 witnessed an excellent display of sportsman's spirits of students and faculty members.

Cultural Activities
Abhivyanjana: Unraveling meanings
'Culture is the widening of mind and spirits' well displayed by the students of Gautam Buddha University. The beauty of every culture is enhanced by the minds that practice it. Abhivyanjana is a birth of a new tradition. It is GBU's annual cultural and management event that intends to add wings to intellect, imagery, and creativity of our students. It is very essential for every civilization to preserve their heritage and celebrate it from time to time. No culture can survive in isolation hence it is imperative to make the young generation aware of this heritage. Abhivyanjana aims at dissolving the cultural demarcations and facilitating a new school of thought where every student thinks beyond the limit but still grounded to his values. It also gives a platform to the budding managers and compels them to think out of the box.

Cultural Event
February 5th and 6th witnessed such extensions of all our skills, innovation and new hopes when we orchestrated the symphony of Abhivyanjana '09. In this two day event, all the students participated with great zeal. GBU students like any other B-school, have packed schedules and amidst all that, they managed to give a framework to their creative ideas and acumen. Day one was primarily for the management events. Students got the chance of exhibiting their oratorical and managerial skills by participating in events like debate, business quiz, abhivyakti and srijan. There were some intellectually stimulating discussions, exhilarating questions and very creative proposals. The theme for the day was globalization. The faculty and students, very efficiently had put up a great show altogether. The second day was based on the theme of diversity in culture.

The biggest asset of our country is its rich heritage and every possible attempt was made to display that beauty in the event. There were events like cola age making, rangoli, group dances, singing and classical music. All the efforts, learning and dedication was easily reflected in the performances. GBU lived up to its promise of education with culture. Every member of GBU family worked sedulously to etch this festivity in the books of records of the university. The cultural values imbibed in every student were beautifully displayed in the form of cultural folk dances and classical songs. This added yet another segment to the paradigm of Gautam Buddha University.

Our honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. R.S. Nirjar concluded the festival by his words of appreciation and his experience with Abhivyanjana. He very assertively mentioned the point that what is being sold in attracted packaging now is in fact very old and perished. We should not mimic west and fall prey to these baseless imitations. We should enhance our skills and values by organizing such events more often.

The show ended but Abhivyanjana started off for a new journey, to revive and rejuvenate the earthy, cultural and innovative spirit.
