Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya is regarded as a center of excellence in the arena of technical education, research and innovations. At present the University covers the entire state of Madhya Pradesh under its educational jurisdiction and takes care of affiliated Engineering Colleges, Pharmacy Colleges, MCA Colleges and Architecture Colleges imparting multi-level education.

Profile of University
Rajiv Gandhi Technical University has been established by an act of the Government of Madhya Pradesh in the year 1998. The University has in its fold at present 155 Colleges of Engineering enrolling over 50000 students each year besides 76 Polytechnics currently admitting 8760 students annually. One of the major areas of focus of the University is to significantly improve the quality of technical education in Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics. RGTU is committed to excel Madhya Pradesh in the area of Technical Education and Research. The University has planned to setup UTDs in the area of Information Science & Technology, Energy and Environment Management, Bio-technology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. A university department of Entrepreneurship and Management Development is also being setup to provide a formidable support to the development of technopreneurs in the state. The University is also in the process of setting up a centre of Excellence in IT to strengthen technology development and R & D in frontline areas for the IT industries.

Rajiv Gandhi Technical University was established in the year 1998, by Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Act 13, 1998. The university was established so that the condition of technical education in this Indian state could be restored. RGTU is also responsible for taking care of the quality of research, development and teaching in the various technical training institutes of the state.

The main thrust of RGPV for next five year is on strategic interventions in four main areas ie.
* Enhance opportunities for postgraduate education and research in areas of high relevance to nations science and technology capabilities

* Promote use of IT in technical education through promotion of e-Learning and web enabled teaching processes

* Transforming the university into a knowledge enterprise through its focus on research and development, industrial consultancy and by establishing efficient and effective mechanisms for managing innovations, technology incubation, technology transfer and knowledge management

* Providing effective mechanisms and support facilities for developing faculty and learning resources for its affiliated institutions. The tenth plan document thus include establishment of UTDs, COEs including a centre of Innovation and Technology Management, a Staff College for Human Resources Development in technical education besides strengthening the RGTU System.

RGTU offers undergraduate, graduate and PhD courses under its departments. University offers research oriented post graduate programmes in Computer Technology and Applications, Quality Assurance in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Power System and Energy Technology in its campus. RGTU is associated with prestigious international universities like University of Houston, Texas, USA, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and Osmania University Hyderabad to exchange researchers and teachers of these universities.

Established in the year 1998, by Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Act 13, 1998. Over a sprawling Campus of about 247 acres, the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya is marching towards development into a center of excellence in the arena of Technical Education, Research and Innovations. Under its umbrella there are 06 UTD's , 155 affiliated Engineering Colleges, 89 Pharmacy Colleges, 60 MCA Colleges and 03 Architecture Colleges imparting Graduate level instructions running around 17 under graduate level courses, 57 Polytechnic institutions offering diploma courses in emerging and conventional disciplines. Situated amidst an aesthetic and hilly surrounding, the University is now offering Ph Ds and 11 post-graduate courses in five University Teaching departments under the faculties of Information Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nano Technology, Biotechnology, Energy Technology, Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering keeping in tune with the needs of the ever expanding Global Knowledge Economy. The affiliated colleges and the University Departments conduct a good number of conventional and emerging multidisciplinary programmes. Some of the affiliated colleges have been permitted to impart Post Graduate teaching. University has placed high end industry relevant research activities high on its academic agenda. The University has already associated itself with prestigious international universities like University of Houston, Texas, USA, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok and Osmania University Hyderabad to exchange researchers and teachers of these universities. The university has also entered into MOUs with Microsoft, IBM, Altair and Schrodinger in order to improve employability of the students. These companies are benchmark in their fields and providing regular training to the faculty and students on cutting edge technologies. To provide world class knowledge infrastructure the University has setup Centre of Excellence in Information Technology, Green Energy Technology and Drug Discovery and Design to cater to the need of researchers and all student fraternity of RGPV. In our quest to strengthen our knowledge infrastructure we have strengthened digital library and established an EDUSAT based studio cum classroom with the support of ISRO to connect RGPV with 62 affiliated institutions in MP. A knowledge park has also been proposed for RGPV to strengthen our support for world class technology incubation and new product development. It is a matter of high satisfaction that UG students and faculty in our affiliated institutions are also making their mark at national level innovative product design competitions.

Its raining jobs for RGPV students

Bhopal: Jobs are raining for the students of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) as dozens of techies have received handsome job offers from various national and multi-national companies visiting the university for campus placement. Compared to previous years, over 80 percent more students have been placed in the first four months of the present year.

According to the RGPV administration, the quality of workforce that the companies are getting from the university has improved greatly. Even the companies have started turning towards the state for quality hands.
MNCs such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Mahindra, Senetal, KEE, New Sigma have already visited the RGPV this year so far. Students from the computer science, Information and Technology (IT) and Electronics and Communications got the maximum job offers.

Prof. Anil Kothari, Training and Placement officer at RGPV, said that the positive turnaround was also due to the change in the process of the interviewing candidates.Kothari said the HR teams of the companies judged the leadership qualities through some psychology based questions.Talking to Bhaskar News, Anay Sharma, who got an offer from TCS, said that during the interview the he was asked about his leadership skills and ability to work in a team.

As my CV showed that I am a sport enthusiast, the interview board only asked me about things such as leadership skills teamwork. They didnt enquir about my knowledge of the subject, Sharma said.

Saloni feted for meritorious performance

Indore: Saloni Yadav, student of Acropolis College, was felicitated for meritorious academic performance at a function organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Prodhyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV).Yadav was given a cash amount of Rs 20,000 from the chancellors scholarship fund along with a merit certificate. Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and minister of technical education Lakshmikant Sharma who were chief guests for the event awarded the students and congratulated them for their achievement.
Several students of Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) also received awards for scoring highest marks in different subjects of engineering in the state.

MP univ nears development of miracle cancer drug

Bhopal: Researchers at the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) claim to be in the last phase of developing a cure for cancer.While traditional treatments and therapies for cancer target both the cancerous and healthy cells, leading to common problems such as hair loss and a weak digestive system, the RPGV scientists say their medicine will be free of side-effects.C Karthikeyan, a researcher at the RGPV who has been working on the medicine for seven years, is more excited about the prospects of his study than ever.Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar he said, the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, Canada, has reviewed the study and approved its findings. A clinical study will now be conducted at the National Cancer Institute, Maryland, US, he added.Confirming the universitys collaboration with the Canadian and American labs, Piyush Trivedi, the Vice Chancellor of the RGPV, said their medicine has proved to be more effective than Erlotinib, the most reliable cancer-treatment drug until now.The clinical study of their drug at Maryland will take two months, he added.

RGPV web portal boosts students attendance in classes

Bhopal: Students attendance in colleges affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) has suddenly leapt by nearly 20 per cent, courtesy a new addition to the varsitys web portal.In a bid to check absenteeism, the RGPV has asked all colleges to submit in a section of its portal the attendance of every student per semester.According to the norms of the university, all students must have a minimal attendance of 75 per cent to sit in exams. And the submission of attendance details in the RGPV web portal has forced students to attend classes regularly.Just 10 days after the varsity issued the diktat, attendance in several colleges has surged from 5-20 per cent.Arun Sachdeva, Dean, Oriental Group of Institutes, told Dainik Bhaskar that within a week [of the new rule being enforced] attendance in classes had increased to 90 per cent from 70 per cent.He also expressed hope that students will now attend classes regularly.
