The decision to this effect comes after the detection of yet another fake mark-sheet on Wednesday. The authorities have come across 354 fake mark-sheets in the past two years so far.Says BU registrar, Sanjay Tiwari, We will recommend the high-level inquiry to investigate the case. The university has initiated several measures to detect such cases, he claims. The mark-sheets and degrees provided by the university have special features which can not replicated. This helps us detect the fake documents, he asserts. The biggest ever racket of fake mark-sheet was busted in 2010 in the department of post-graduate diploma in computer application (PGDCA). Since then, the university has started uploading details of the mark-sheet on its web portal whenever it comes across such incident. In the latest incident on Wednesday, the BU detected a B Sc marks-sheet issued in 2009 by a college in Sironj of Vidisha district. We caught a mark-sheet presented by a student, Senma Bharat Kumar with the roll number 624538. The college name mentioned on the mark-sheet is LBS Sironj, an official of the university, on the condition of anonymity, said. The mark-sheet mentioned the enrolment number B-12549. The official added that Kumar presented the mark-sheet in Rajkot. A complaint was registered against Kumar in Rajkot. A police team presented the mark-sheet to BU for verification. After verifying the details, it was realised that the mark-sheet was fake. We have informed the police team about the status of the mark-sheet, official said. As for the action against the college which issues such mark-sheets, the registrar says, Colleges the names of which are found on the mark-sheet will have to make their stand clear. We cant ignore such institutions. Once found for its involvement in fake mark-sheet, a college can even lose its affiliation. BPEd, MPEd students documents under lensBHOPAL: Students of Barkatullah University affiliated colleges of BPEd (bachelor of physical education) and MPEd (master of physical education), who have not yet submitted original documents, are under the scanner. In a somewhat belated move, the university on June 2 decided to verify the authenticity of the mark-sheets submitted by students.A large number of students have submitted testimonials while some of them have not yet submitted their original documents, said sources in the university. BU registrar Sanjay Tiwari said that the university would not let students off the hook, who have managed to get admission in colleges by submitting fake documents. We will ask the respective universities to verify the documents submitted by students at the time of admission, Tiwari said. The university had issued a notification on June 2 asking students to submit their original mark-sheets before appearing for exams, by June 11 after complaints had been made to the Governor on alleged violation of admission norms. The semester exams of the BPEd exam will start from June 13 and that of the MPEd exam will start from June 21. State ignores Barkatullah University land for international cricket stadiumBHOPAL: Apparently ignoring an available big stretch of land in Barkatullah University, the state government has been scouting elsewhere for it to prepare an international cricket stadium in Bhopal. As shortage of funds nixed the physical education department stadium the land can be used for it, feel sportspersons.Director, physical education of Barkatullah University, Akhilesh Sharma said the university has been working on completing the stadium work for the past couple of years, but the lack of funds is proving an impediment. We began work on for the stadium three years back. Almost Rs 50 lakh has been used in levelling the field and other works, Sharma said. Around 35-40 acre land is required to construct any international cricket stadium. The university has 40 acre of land. Parking facility is the most important thing in deciding a site for an international cricket stadium. The advantage with the varsity land that it is open from three sides and easily take 50,000 vehicles at a time, Sharma said. He added vehicles could be parked at the space available land in front of boys hostel, CRIM and girls hostel. The university has sanctioned another Rs 60 lakh for constructing 60 meter pavilion. The plan is to construct 440 m pavilion. The executive council has cleared the money for constructing 60 meter pavilion. The tender would be floated soon, Sharma disclosed. According to the BUs model of cricket stadium, they have proposed 75 meter boundary with ten wickets in the ground. Citing the example of DY Patil cricket stadium which is on the college campus in Navi Mumbai, Sharma said the land available in the university is almost three times more than the one available at DY Patil stadium. DY Patil cricket stadium is one of the best cricket facilities in the world. We have much more land than that, Sharma said. He added that the university is planning to send a proposal to the UGC for funds to complete the cricket stadium in future. Sharma claimed that being a safe and secured part of the city, land available on the university campus be a best bet in Bhopal. TOI is in possession of copy of the complaint written by Dr Sharma to the university authorities. Asked the reason for demanding security, Dr Sharma said, Sengar threatened him after I asked him to take classes regularly. However, he was angry after I asked him to take classes, Dr Sharma alleged. Dr Sharma said Sengar has taken only 29 classes in the past one year. I have been receiving complaints from students about his absenteeism, Dr Sharma claimed. In the complaint written to university registrar Dr Sanjay Tiwari, the director alleged that Sengar came to his cabin on May 9 and threatened him. When I asked him the reason for his absence from class for 50 consecutive days, he abused me. He went out of the room saying I would have to face dire consequences, Dr Sharma alleged. Dr Sharma also demanded that Sengar be banned from entering the university. His presence in the university campus is not good for other employees. I do not want to disturb the functioning of the department. He may create problem for me and others, Dr Sharma said. Despite several efforts, Sengar could not be contacted. Barkatullah University bid to finish 6-month course in 17 days flatBHOPAL: Apparently realising that a slew of under-graduate 6-semester, including BA, are running way behind schedule Barkatullah University is now in a tearing hurry to finish courses. At a mind-boggling pace-in 17 days flat. After declaring fifth semester result on April 30, the university announced May 17 as the exam date for the sixth semester. The higher education department directives to complete the present session by June 15 for smooth introduction of on-line admission from June 20 perhaps explain the undue haste. The university has 354 affiliated colleges. Most of the graduate level exams of sixth semester have yet to be organised. According to university schedule, B Com exam will be organised from May 17 to 26 whereas BCA exam is scheduled to be organised from May 17 to 24. Another important exam of BSc will be organised from May 17 to June 12. The university appears to be in a position to complete the exam process by the deadline decided by the higher education department. Most of the exams will be completed either in the first week or mid of the next month, sources said. Interestingly, even after declaring the result, the university would still need to give time to students for revaluation which takes almost ten days. Another few days will be spent on declaring the revaluation and supplementary results which lands university in completing the exam process by the first week of July, sources further explained. When contacted, university authorities refused to comment. The exam section does not come under my control. Talk to the exam controller or anyone else from the exam section, assistant registrar BD Bharti reacted when asked the universitys preparation to complete the exam within the set deadline. The rush hour has forced university authorities to reduce minimum number of days for academic session in one semester. Conducting six months classes in 17 days is nothing, but jeopardizing students future. I dont have any choice except to appear in the exam with hardly any preparation, a student of sixth semester Vidya Dhulekar said. university collegeBHOPAL: Apparently realising that a slew of under-graduate 6-semester, including BA, are running way behind schedule Barkatullah University is now in a tearing hurry to finish courses. No B Ed course in Barkatullah University from this yearBhopal: It is almost certain that the Barkatullah University will stop offering B Ed course from this year. The decision is expected to receive the VCs approval in the meeting of the universitys working council scheduled for July 15.B Ed course is offered in the university as a self-financing course. There are a 100 seats for the course in the university and the fee is about Rs 25,000. The National Council for Technical Education had ordered Barkatullah University to ensure that the staff and infrastructure required to offer the course were all available in the university. The university authorities, however, believe that offering the course in not profitable and it would make better sense to scrap the course altogether. The university will have to spend an extra Rs 5 lakh to offer the course and therefore the administration is planning to stop the course from this year. Barkatullah University has no money to run B.Ed courseBarkatullah University results declared Share Bhopal: The Barkatullah University administration is likely to discontinue its B.Ed course from this year owing to the poor financial condition of the self-financed department.According to university insiders, Vice-Chancellor may officially put his stamp on the orders to discontinue the course after the high level meeting scheduled to take place of 15 July. The B Ed course, which was being run under the self financing scheme of the university, had been facing numerous problems due to the weak financial condition. The university charges Rs 25, 000 for the course. Earlier, the National Council of Technical Education (NCTE) had issued a notice directing the Barkatullah University administration to develop proper infrastructure and arrange required number of staff for the course. The university, in its reply to the NCTEs notice, had assured the council of all necessary action. However, the university administration, in its initial survey, found that the cost of continuing the course was way above the allocated fund. The JP Hospital apparently has three generators of 50, 100 and 400 KW generators. However, a Bhaskar investigation found that only one generator is currently working and is used to supply power to the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU).The lack of power at night has forced patients to undergo expensive treatment at private healthcare centres. Students have been granted admission to M Phil in the department of sociology three months after the passage of the last date. Similar case was reported earlier when late admissions were allowed to MA which the BU administration later cancelled. The last date for taking admission to BU was August 16,2010, but the Head of the Department of Sociology Dr Arvind Chauhan brought out the list of selected students in November. This disrupted the regularity of the ongoing academic session. He however says that the decision was taken to benefit the students. Explain his decision, he said that the results of BU and some other colleges came out late and therefore he withheld the admission list.Dr Chauhan issued the admission list on Novemeber 2 and the waiting list on November 18. About 40 students were given admission in the month of November. Apart from this the list contained the names of SC-ST students among the General Category students. National Students Union of India (NSUI) Ubhay Kushal Tiwari has leveled charges of corruption against Dr Arvind Chauhan. Onus on Barkatullah University to bring illegal institutes downBhopal: The Barkatullah University now has the ball in its court to crack the whip on the educational institutes which do not have affiliations with it. The district administration has passed the responsibility to the university to decide the course of action in the states initiative to shut down the illegal operations of these institutes. The higher education department secretary Prabhanshu Patel had asked the District Collector to lodge a FIR against the 11 institutes which it had identified as operating without proper papers and sanctions of an affiliation. The district administration was given 48 hours to lodge a formal complaint. However, the district authority just cooled its heels for two days and did not proceed any further in the matter. Now, it has asked the Barkatullah University to take relevant action. New twist in BU, Maa Vaishno Devi College controversyBhopal: The battle between the Barkatullah University (BU) and Maa Vaishno Devi College took another twist on Thursday with the university deciding to file an affidavit in the high court against the college alleging that the latter had submitted wrong information. The BU said that the college had given different information to the high court and the university which underlines the fact that it is a fake institute. BU registrar Sanjay Tiwary, through the affidavit, plans to demand an explanation over how the B Ed students were declared eligible just four days after them being tagged as ineligible. The university claims that while the college principal, through an affidavit, stated the students were of 2009-10 batch, he told the high court that they were from 2008-09 session.College principal: A suspended school teacher.Tiwary further added that Maa Vaishno Devi College principal Arun Sigh was actually a suspended school teacher.According to the prescribed law, he is not eligible for the post of college principal, said Tiwary.Fake colleges fake address. The address of the controversial college was also found to be fake as both BU and high court had different addresses of the same college. Police bust 5 major gangs in 20 daysBhopal: The last month of the year is proving to be exceptionally good for the police. In the last 20 days the police have busted five major gangs and recovered goods worth about Rs 1.25 crore. The police have also been able to find leads to the robbery held at the Manappuram Gold Finance Company. There had been several theft and robbery cases through out the year, be it the incidents at the Barkatullah University or the biggest ever burglary in the state, the police was not having much success. But its performance has been quite good in the last month of the year. However, retired officers say that the police, in order to improve its annual record, make a desperate rush to solve cases at the fag end of the year. It does so with the quiet approval of the senior officials. No cash counter at university, students pay heavy priceBhopal: Anywhere in the state you will have to pay Rs 10 for any information attained under the Right To Information (RTI) Act, but at the Barkatullah University, Rs 35 is charged for the same service. In fact, for all services Rs 25 extra is charged by the university. This is because the university does not have a cash counter. And all transactions are carried by the bank, which charges Rs 15 as its commission. All receipts are in the form of chalaans, which have miffed the students. If the students have to buy the syllabus, they have to pay Rs 40 instead of Rs 15 (the cost of the syllabus). The question arises why should the students bear the brunt of the absence of a cash counter in the university? Also, why does the bank charge Rs 15 commission when it does not incur a cost of more than Rs five for the chalaan forms? Barkatullah University results declaredBhopal: The results of several courses in Barkatullah University were declared on Thursday, June 23.The courses whose results have come out are Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (first semester), BE (eighth semester) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology and Electronic and Computer Engineering. The results can be seen on the notice board of the university. For Barkatullah University, delay in announcing results is a normal processBhopal: Five months after conducting the examination, the Barkatullah University (BU) is yet to announce the second semester result of Master of Business Administration (MBA) much to the chagrin of the students. However, the BU administration says that the delay in announcing the result is a normal procedure. This is not for the first time that results have been delayed. It is a normal process. The answer sheets of MBA (second semester) are yet to be checked. We are trying to declare the results by the next week, VK Singh, Exam Registrar, BU, said. Over 20, 000 students are enrolled in MBA course in various colleges affiliated to BU. The delay in announcing the result has infuriated the students as they believe that the universitys laid back attitude could cost them dearly in future. The result of MBA (fourth semester), exams for which were conducted in October last year, was announced just three days ago, which highlights the sorry state of affairs in the university. Ankur Gupta, a fourth semester MBA student, said that many students like him were unable to sit in the campus selection due the BUs negligence. The university did not give us the degree at the time of campus placement, said a livid Gupta. 36 out of 59 BU colleges dont have regular principalsBhopal: It has emerged that 36 out of the 59 government colleges affiliated to Barkatullah University (BU) do not have regular principals and are functioning under in-charge principals. The condition is worst in Harda and Raisen districts where all colleges are functioning under in-charge principals. The situation is bad in Bhopal as well where four out of 11 BU colleges do not have regular principals. The only government college in Education Minister Lakshmikant Sharmas hometown Sironj, too has had an in-charge principal for the last eight years. Dr M C Saxena, retired principal of Hamidia College, says that in-charge principals do not have the authority to write Annual Confidential Report of their subordinates, and as a result the staff tends to ignore their orders. Experts say that not having a regular principal does not directly affect the education standards of a college; but the administration of the college tends to become weak. Department of Higher Education accepted that they were facing an acute shortage of principals. BHMS students threaten protest against delay in declaring resultBhopal: BHMS (II year) students have threatened to launch a protest movement against administrations delay in declaring results.Dr Bhaskar Naik, president of the Homeo Vision Medical Students Association, in a press statement release, said that the Barkatullah University (BU) had held the Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) second year examinations last year in December; but even after four months the results have not been declared. Also, the university has declared the time table of the next examination even before declaring last exams results making the students worried. Dr Naik said that the university had not held last years exam on time as well and that repeated delay in holding exams and declaring results will result in the extension course schedule. BU Computer Application exam cancelled after students protestBhopal: Barkatullah University (BU) cancelled the Computer Application examination of the 5th semester B Com students. The students were upset as the questions asked in the examination were reported to be out of the prescribed syllabus. The angry students protested at various exam centres forcing the university administration to cancel the exam. The students who were appearing for Computer Application examination found that several question in the question paper were out of course. They brought this to the notice of the invigilators and protested. BU administration, on receiving similar complaints from various examination centres, decided to cancel the exam. The next date for the exam will soon be announced. About 2500 students were appearing for the exam which was being held at 35 centres. It should be remembered that earlier similar case was reported from the B Com English examination. BU exams posponed as students protest varsitys rulesBhopal: The BA (LLB) examinations being conducted by Barkatullah University (BU) is completely tangled in debates. The students appearing in the exams have complained that they are being informed just days ahead of the papers that they do not qualify to sit for the final year exams. The students were allegedly told that they had failed in first year under ATKT. BU examinations have always been surrounded in controversies. The exams have been postponed after students raised concern over the latest development.Students have also alleged that BU administration conducts examinations under its own rules, which are never defined. The rules are defined and changed at the whims of the varsity administrators. Priyanka Pandey, a BU student, said earlier a student with one paper back in first year would be allowed to appear for the final year exams. But the varsity has announced merely two days before the papers that students with paper back, can appear for their back papers but not in their final year papers. Pandey further said the students will approach the high court if the university authorities insist on ruining the academic year for these students. Head of Law Department, BU Mona Purohit said the rules of the varsity have been the same since 2008. The allegations of informing the students too late were baseless, Purohit added.
