Library
The Library uses Libsoft software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The Libsoft consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, and OPAC. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. Records of all the Library patrons have also been created in the Libsoft package.

Hi-Tech Seminar Rooms
A well furnished, Hi-Tech, state-of-the-art seminar room with audio-visual aids like Multimedia Projector, OHPs, TV, VCR, DVD player etc.

Workshop
Workshop Department of the college plays a key role in imparting basic training in central workshop and engineering practical training to the student. The college is having spacious central workshops. A basic training in central workshops satisfies the degree requirement for engineering during their first or second semester. The college workshop also undertakes repair and maintenance work of all the department a central facility for the fabrication of projects and other research and development activities being carried out the ciollege.

Machine Shop:
It is equipped with lathes, shapers, milling machines, planners, slotter, captan lathe, production lathe, cylindrical grinder, surface grinding machine and honing machine. After working in the machine shop students will be able to produce any kind complex machined product

Foundry Shop
Students learn the processes of hot metal casting and how they interface with other production methods. It includes industrial tec hniques and foundry methods.

Fitting Shop
Students Acquire skills in using tools and basic fitting equipment, identification of materials, description and demonstration of vario benches, holding devices and files, precautions while filling marking of jobs

Electrical shop
Study demonstration and identification of common electrical materials such as wires, cables, switches, fuses, ceilling roses, bat allied items, tools, accessories, electrical safety measures and demonstration about use of protective devices. Laying out of company house and study of common electrical appliances in being practicedby the students.

Carpentry Shops
Students acquire skills in using both power and hand tools and general information regarding building materials and construction students undertake the practice of making, sawing, extensive planning and chiseling opration

Smithy Shop
Technical Know how is imparted on bowers, pressure blowers, upsetting opration, description and specification on anvils, swage by power hammers etc.

Welding shop
Students learn the process of electric arc welding, gas welding by preparing different types of joints by the both processes. With this they are able to differentiate both the processes.

Hostel
There are separate hostels for boys and girls within the campus with accommodation. Each hostel has an activity centre, common room, reading room, dinning room with mess, canteen till late hours and other basic amenities like hot water supply in winter. Two new hostels are under construction to provide in house residential facilities to the aspiring students.

HOSTEL RULES
*Students are not permitted to stay outside the hostel beyond the timings given below without written permission from the warden
*All students are expected to preserve the hostel property. In case of damage, student is liable to face disciplinary action in addition to recovery of the damage caused to the property.
*The students will maintain perfect discipline in the hostel.
*Meal timings shall be followed
*No outsider is permitted to enter the hostel without permission of the warden.
*Use of Room heater/Water heater/electric iron and hotplate etc. are not allowed in the rooms.
*Playing of stereo, TV and radio are not permitted other than in the common room.
*Drugs/alcohol is strictly prohibited inside the hostel
*Before leaving the hostel for overnight absence, girls shall get the movement book signed from the warden and on return deposit the duly signed (parent/guardian) book with the warden.

The Campus has a well-equipped medical care centre to provide first Aid medical services round the clock, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Realizing the importance of immediate medical care to a large population of more than 3000 students, two qualified doctors both male and female along with Para medical staff have been deputed to meet with all types of emergencies.

An ambulance with life supporting systems owned by Rayat Medical Care Centre is also available. This facility is also being used by the roadside emergencies.

Transportation
College also extends bus facility to all the students. College has its own fleet of buses running from Amritsar, Jandial, Beas, Rayya, Khadoor Sahib, Goindwal Sahib, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Makhu, Jira and Bhikhiwind.

Sports
Sports are an integral part of the colleges curriculum. Physical ability coupled with mental ability forms the backbone of the training imparted to the students.

The College has provision for all games. Games are played under the supervision of an expert Coach. Apart from a large number of Athletic events namely discuss throws, javelin, shot-put etc. for both boys and girls are also organized.

As such the College has inducted proper curriculum for students to ensure their fitness and a variety of indoor and outdoor games like Table Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Volleyball, Basket Ball, Kabaddi and athletics/ throws etc. College colours are awarded to the deserving sportsmen for proficiency and outstanding performance in sports and athletics at the College Sports Function.

THREE DAYS WORKSHOP ON NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES
Three days workshop on NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES was held on 17th–18th March, 2009 in campus of SSIET. It was organized by Computer Science and Engg. Dept. Workshop is handled by Ocean Net Technologies, which is ISO certified company and students also got the certificates

Two Days Workshop on Embedded System

Two days workshop on Embedded System Design and Development was held at SSIET, on 4th and 5th March, 09. The workshop was organized with the help of Eureaka Electrosoft Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Chandigarh and team was led by Er. Gurmeet Sharma, the technical director of the company. Students were guided to interface and work with steeper motor, DC motor, LED and LCD.

GUEST LECTURE ON DETECTION AND PREVENTION OF VIRUS
A guest Lecture On Detection and Prevention of Virus was delivered by Dr. Harsh Verma Prof. Computer Science Engg. Department, NIT Jalandhar in the Campus of Shiv Shankar Institute of Engg and Technology on Dated 10-4-09. It was organized by Computer Science and Engg. department. Chairman Sh. Ram Iqbal Sharma, Managing Director Sh. Rajesh Bhardwaj, Executive Managing Director Mrs. Mridula Bhardwaj, also attended this lecturer. Dr. Verma suggested to the students, how can they secure machines, from Virus. Mr. H.L Sharma (offt. Principal) along with Er. Jatinder Singh (Asst. Prof CSE), Ms. Babita Makker (Training and Placement Officer) presented momento to Dr. Verma and appreciated him for this beneficiar lecture.

A guest Lecture on Computer Network was delivered by Dr.Gurwinder Singh,Prof. in CSE,GNDU Amritsar in the campus of Shiv Shankar Instt.of Engg and Technology,Patti.Managing Director Sh.Rajesh Bhardwaj,Faculty members and students were audience in this lecture.Dr.Gurwinder Singh shared his university experience and motivated the students to learn and awareness about new technologies. He told about the nano-technology to students. Students were enjoying this lecture as well as gaining many new points about networking. SSIET, Patti has an independent Placement Office devoted to cater to the needs of organizations in conducting campus interviews for placements. It is headed by a Professor designated as Placement Officer with additional charge and he is supported by a full time permanent placement Co-ordinator. The office is also assisted by student placement Co-ordinators who lead a team of placement representatives from various courses of study. The Placement Office ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting companies officials.

The Placement Office, functions in a separate air conditioned block with all audio visual facilities, written test, group discussion and interviews and has rapidly progressed over the years in enhancing the placement potential effectively. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the college for their successful career placement which is crucial interface for the students between the stages of completion of academic programme of studies and entry into the suitable employment. This Office also coordinates various activities related to the career of the students along with the industrial training. More than 90 reputed national and multinational companies visit SSIET, Patti for campus recruitment annually.

It is expected that more than 90% of the students will secure job offers before they complete their programme of studies and leave the college.

SEMINAR ON TRAINING and PLACEMENT
S.S.I.E.T organised a seminar on training and placement on 14 NOV 2007. Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Director Placement Cell of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar graced the occasion as a chief guest. He gave his guidance and counseling by describing 10 points regarding achieving placement. According to him, it is 100% responsibility of the students because it depends upon the student capability and constant effort as how to achieve the placement. Worthy Managing Director Sh. Rajesh Bhardwaj, Principal Prof. N.L.Arora also participated in the seminar and appreciated the 10 major steps told by Dr. Rajneesh Arora. Students were also much impressed and motivated by Dr. Rajneesh Arora.

SEMINAR ON TRAINING AND PLACEMENT
A Seminar on Training and Placement was held on 30th Nov 2007 in the Campus of SSIET, Patti. In which Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Director of Training and Placement Cell. GNDU University, gave his Commendable views and advice as how to get B.Tech students of any stream placed successfully in the future ahead. Stressing that rather than just depending on the Colleges/Universities, it is the responsibility of the students to get themselves placed in reputed Companies/Industries, for this purpose he described ten useful points. Besides this he also stressed on making network among the students via net, mobile messaging, etc. To meet up with this end the means of placement he throwed his visionary light upon were personality development, Communication skills, Individual student brochures of pre-final year in which they have to add College information, personal information, major/minor projects and training. Winding up the seminar he also gave his useful tips on career guidance. At the end of seminar our Managing director Mr. Rajesh Bhardwaj reviewed and highlighted the tips explained by Dr. Arora.

YOUTH EMPLOYEMENTSEMINAR(PUNJAB GOVT.)15 SEPT 07
Punjab Government started a programme for youth employment, especially belonging to rural areas. Under this scheme, a seminar on Youths Employment was conducted on 15 Sept, 07. In which teachers, from different Schools and College and educationists gave their views as how to tackle the problem of unemployment among youth. All the delegates provided the knowledge of different Courses as how they can get self employment for those who dont perform academically well. For achieving this goal, the Government can provided vocational educational training to one lakh youth for job employment and 50,000 youth for self employment per year.

Their newly proposed features are job oriented degree, diploma certificate/vocational courses. Among different participants Mr S.A.Khan, TPO, SSIET also presented his views on the same. On the important occasion, SSIET played a very vital role by providing as a platform for making san awareness and acting as an educationist as how to remove the causes and problem of Unemployment.
