INDO GLOBAL COLLEGES are self-financed, unaided institute set up in 2003 by the INDO GLOBAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION to provide world class quality education to its students. CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The college took a plunge into the immensely refreshing and challenging field of Civil Engineering with the setting up of the department of Civil Engineering, right from the genesis of the college. The Department of Civil Engineering is excellently suited to meet the ever changing requirements of engineers with courses that combine the study of management, business skills and computers with engineering.

A large number of subjects are offered in different areas for the students to study the subject of interest in depth. The subject taught in the course include Surveying, Building Construction, Transport Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Concrete Design, Steel Design, Soil Engineering. Earthquake resistant, structures, Hydrology and dams etc.

VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS and LABORATORIES
Concrete Lab.
This lab deals with building materials and structural engineering. Here testing of building materials of is conducted all kinds. Cement Testing, Brick Testing, Concrete Compressive strength, Flexure strength of concrete beams, Concrete Mix Design (Detailed and nominal), Steel (Complete Tests), Timber Tests are done.

Structural Analysis Lab
Equipped with various instruments for structural analysis of different materials like steel beams, cantilevers, trusses etc.

Transportation Engg. Lab.
This lab deals with road construction materials. Various tests taught to the students are – Aggregate Test, Crushing Value, Abrasian Value, Imoact. Shape Test, Flakiness Index, Sieve Analysis, Sp. Gr. and Water Absorption, Stripping Test.

Bituminous Test, Penetration Test, Ductility Test, Softening Point Test, Flash and Fire Point Test, Viscosity Test, Bitumen Extraction Test.

Environmental Engg. Lab.
In this lab students learn water and effluent testing: Consultancy services are also provided for

3. pH value, acidic value and viscosity of solution.

Computer Aided Design Lab.
This lab possesses the latest software and computers required for structural solutions and design in Civil Engineering. The laboratory is equipped with AUTOCAD, STAAD, PRO, Windows XP, Ms-Office, Visual Studio, Audio Visual aids to technical and non-technical problems using computers. The department undertakes a number of National Level Projects.

Tensile Test and Compression Tests are done on computerized Universal Testing Machine.

COMPUTER SCIENCE and ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The course of B. Tech in Computer Science and Engg. Lays strong emphasis on both computer hardware as well as software. The important subjects taught during the four years course include Network Technology. System Softwar. WEB Administration, Microprocessor and its Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Communication Network, Multi Media and Application, Advance Micro Processor, Discrete Structures for Computer Science, data Base Systems. Assembling Language Programme, Computer Graphics, Data Structure using C Computer Peripheral devices and interfacing, E-Commerce etc.
Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, a lot of stress is laid on hands-on training and overall development of the individuals personality. OPERATING SYSTEM LAB.
These labs, are being used for practical courses on C, C++, Data-structures. Algorithms and Computer Networks. The lab have recently been upgraded with 30 latest Pentium 4 machines. Also they are equipped with Window 2003 Programming. Cyrix Server with range of network equipment which includes D-Link Switch, Radio Modem, Hubs, Patch Panel etc. The lab. Provides for on-hand experience in Networking using Windows 2003 Environment. It also has Linux and Navell Netware licensed operating systems.

MULTIMEDIA and GRAPHICS LAB.
The Multimedia Graphics Lab. Serves for practical sources in Computer Graphics. This lab is equipped with 30 Pentium 4 based multimedia PCs. Also the lab. Boasts of an Acer Altos Server. The lab. Provides working experience in Windows and Linux environments. This lab. also has licensed Adobe Photoshop on all machines.
The lab is primarily for practical courses on Microprocessors. The lab. is equipped with 10 trainer kits of 8085, 8086 and Z-80 (Oscilloscopes, Frequency Counters, Function Generators, Pulse Generators, Dual Output Power Supplies, Logic Design Trainer Kits, IC Tester Distortion Factor Meter and other cards and Peripherals.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE LAB.
This lab is provided with Mat Lab and other related Softwares with neural Network and Fuzzy Logic tool boxes for giving students.

RDMBS LAB.
This lab also has 30 Pentium –IV machines with Oracle 10, for giving students practical knowledge of data base management.

INTERNET NET LAB.
This lab is solely used for the purpose of internet surfing by all students of the college.

MULTIMEDIA FACILITY
The department is also equipped with Automatic Slide Projector, Over Head Projector and LCD Projector for use during seminars and conferences. Besides the lab. specific equipment, the department also has some common lab. facilities which are used as per requirement of the students. These include a Compaq Laptop, Digital Camera, Video Camera and Web Cameras.

The department keeps itself updated with the latest software required for proper functioning of the labs and to meet the needs of the students. The computers of the department are equipped with Windows XP, AutoCAD, Ms-Office, Borland C++ and relevant software.

Apart from these facilities available in the department, students are also exposed to networking facility available in the Computer lab.

TRAINING
As a part of the curriculum, all the students have to undergo 6 weeks and 6 month industrial training. The training takes place at the end of 1 st year and at the end of 3 rd year. The students of this college have worked as interns in leading organizations such as HCL, TCS, C-DOT, ALCATEL, ICICI INFOTECH, HFCL, L&T, CHEYODA, PUNCOM, QUARK, PCL, DCL, MAX INDIA, CSIO, TRIDENT, HUGES, SIEMENS, FUITSU, to name a few and have brought appreciation from these organisations.

ELECTRONICS and COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
Department of Electronics and Communication is a prestigious and one of the most sought after department of the college. In order to cater to the rising needs for the professionally qualified engineer excelling in the field of Electronics and Communication, this department provides latest facilities in accordance with the various emerging trends in this field.

The labs, with latest technologies and unlimited internet facility, give students a cutting edge in technical exploration and enhance their information search and analysis skills. The project work carried out by the students, as an integral part of the technical curriculum, gives them a chance to understand and explore areas of their interest. Students are encouraged to join various technical and non-technical forums i.e. IETE, ISTE, EDS and Computer society of India which in turn give them horizontal exposure to their engineering concepts and technology.

The laboratory facilities and the highly qualified teachers completely satisfy the educational requirements as defined by the educational setup of any good engineering college. The various laboratories in the department are:

COMPUTER LAB
Latest computer systems with softwares like Matlab, Commsim, Multisim, Keil , Xilinx and Ultiboard are available for students of Electronics and Communication Engg for their hands-on training and job experience with the latest emerging technology in this branch.

MICROPROCESSOR AND DIGITAL ELECTRONICS LAB
In addition to the various add on cards, the lab is equipped with the microprocessor kits of 8085, 8086 and Microcontrollers such as 8051, 8951. Complete Digital electronics kits such as Multiplexer, ALU and gates are available with the department for the training of students along with PC, Band project Labs.

COMMUNICATION LAB
The Communication lab is well equipped with the latest measurement and communication devices. The lab boasts of a standard function generators and super heterodyne receivers, a wide range of CROs with audio oscillators and high frequency generators. PCM Multiplexing and Demultiplexing kits are also available. For the Digital Communication the deptt. has ASK, PSK, FSK and Delta Modulation Kits.

MICROWAVE LAB
Sophisticated devices like advanced antenna are present in this Lab. The other instruments used are reflex, klystrons, Gunn Diodes, Wave-Guides, Flonges, Attenuators, Frequency meters, Slotted Sections, probes, Circulators, and Tees.

CONTROL AND INSTRUMENTATION LAB
All the equipments relating to basics of instrumentation such as Kelvin Bridge, Wheotstone bridge, Kelvin Double Bridge are available with the deptt.
For process and control applications the deptt. has PID controllers, Compensators, AC and DC Motor Controllers, AC and DC error controllers.

NETWORK AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES LAB
This lab has the kits relating to passive filters such as Low Pass, High Pass,, Band Pass, Band Stop, Constant-K, m-derived and composite filters.

This lab also has kits for study and analysis of basic active components such as h-parameter study kits for transistors, CB CC and CE configurations of BJT, Biosing circuits for FET and MOSFET.

This lab further has kits for study of OP-Amp and its applications in analog computation, summing amplifier, logarithmic amplifier, Integrator and differentiator.

PROJECT LAB
The deptt. boasts of having the PCB lab in its project for giving the students a platform to build their own projects. The lab has all the equipments needed for PCB manufacturing such as positive negative generator, etching machine, cutting machine, drilling machine, tinner, UV exposure unit etc.

This lab has 20 computers with related design softwares for students to build and check their designs. It also has latest function generators and CROs for providing facility to students to check their on board designs. This provides tremendous confidence in students to work in the industry.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the finest departments of this institutions. The department has highly qualified faculty and staff who work with packed devotion and enthusiasm. TRAINING
The college lays emphasis on training to gain practical knowledge during the degree course. The students are required to undergo, industrial training fror 4 weeks at the end of 4 and 6 semesters.

Students have to work in various workshops namely Sheet Metal, Electroplating, Carpentry. Automobile, Smith, Foundry etc.

The class had the privilege of training in industries such as TATA MOTORS, L&T, DCM, PTLK, EICHER, MARUTI UDYOG LTD. Etc.

COMPUTER SCIENCE and ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The course of B. Tech in Computer Science and Engg. Lays strong emphasis on both computer hardware as well as software. The important subjects taught during the four years course include Network Technology. System Softwar. WEB Administration, Microprocessor and its Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Communication Network, Multi Media and Application, Advance Micro Processor, Discrete Structures for Computer Science, data Base Systems. Assembling Language Programme, Computer Graphics, Data Structure using C Computer Peripheral devices and interfacing, E-Commerce etc.

Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, a lot of stress is laid on hands-on training and overall development of the individuals personality. The teaching programmes have been devised keeping in view close interaction with the industry. The competence of the department is reflected in growing demand for its fresh graduates. The number of recruiting companies has multiplied manifold in the last few years.

COMPUTER LAB
Students are provided with extensive practical exposure to a range of software and hardware on subjects relating to the curriculum.

COMPUTATION AND NETWORKS LAB.
OPERATING SYSTEM LAB.

These labs, are being used for practical courses on C, C++, Data-structures. Algorithms and Computer Networks. The lab have recently been upgraded with 30 latest Pentium 4 machines. Also they are equipped with Window 2003 Programming. Cyrix Server with range of network equipment which includes D-Link Switch, Radio Modem, Hubs, Patch Panel etc. The lab. Provides for on-hand experience in Networking using Windows 2003 Environment. It also has Linux and Navell Netware licensed operating systems.

MULTIMEDIA and GRAPHICS LAB.
The Multimedia Graphics Lab. Serves for practical sources in Computer Graphics. This lab is equipped with 30 Pentium 4 based multimedia PCs. Also the lab. Boasts of an Acer Altos Server. The lab. Provides working experience in Windows and Linux environments. This lab. also has licensed Adobe Photoshop on all machines.

The lab is primarily for practical courses on Microprocessors. The lab. is equipped with 10 trainer kits of 8085, 8086 and Z-80 (Oscilloscopes, Frequency Counters, Function Generators, Pulse Generators, Dual Output Power Supplies, Logic Design Trainer Kits, IC Tester Distortion Factor Meter and other cards and Peripherals.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE LAB.
This lab is provided with Mat Lab and other related Softwares with neural Network and Fuzzy Logic tool boxes for giving students.

RDMBS LAB.
This lab also has 30 Pentium –IV machines with Oracle 10, for giving students practical knowledge of data base management.

INTERNET NET LAB.
This lab is solely used for the purpose of internet surfing by all students of the college.

MULTIMEDIA FACILITY
The department is also equipped with Automatic Slide Projector, Over Head Projector and LCD Projector for use during seminars and conferences. Besides the lab. specific equipment, the department also has some common lab. facilities which are used as per requirement of the students. These include a Compaq Laptop, Digital Camera, Video Camera and Web Cameras.

The department keeps itself updated with the latest software required for proper functioning of the labs and to meet the needs of the students. The computers of the department are equipped with Windows XP, AutoCAD, Ms-Office, Borland C++ and relevant software.

Apart from these facilities available in the department, students are also exposed to networking facility available in the Computer lab.

TRAINING
As a part of the curriculum, all the students have to undergo 6 weeks and 6 month industrial training. The training takes place at the end of 1 st year and at the end of 3 rd year. The students of this college have worked as interns in leading organizations such as HCL, TCS, C-DOT, ALCATEL, ICICI INFOTECH, HFCL, L&T, CHEYODA, PUNCOM, QUARK, PCL, DCL, MAX INDIA, CSIO, TRIDENT, HUGES, SIEMENS, FUITSU, to name a few and have brought appreciation from these organisations.

NSS
The NSS unit of the college organizes programs like free Medical Camp, adult education and importance of girl child for near by villages. In the blood donation camp organized on 28th February, 2009 at the campus 444 students and staff members donated blood..

Some other activities organized by college are
Debate/Seminars: Each student is provided with a separate topic for delivering a seminar. He/She prepares the topics under the guidance of a teacher and gives a seminar using modern means of communication viz OHP, multi media projector. These events are akin to workshop at a general scale with the level of involvement from the corporate world being greatly enhanced. The focus here is on highlighting the current industry buzzwords, which are best learnt in this atmosphere, then the class rooms.

General Tutorials
Each teacher has been given a group of 6 students to look into their personal academic progress as well as their difficulties if any. These tutes enable the students to build the proper teacher student interaction.

Canteen
The college has a large canteen, resounding with music. The canteen caters to the needs of staff and students. Lunch, tea, snacks and refreshments are supplied on demand. All items are served at nominal rates.

Clubs/Forum
* Dramatic Club These student bodies not only help students to explore their hidden talent but also help in areas such as personality development and inculcating in the students the spirit of organization by providing them a platform for hosting their respective clubs presentations. Other than these, we have the annual college events i.e. Lamhe in September- October; Sports Meet in February and Mosaic in March-April where the students show their creative talents and present cultural bonanza. ·*Declamation Society: Inter college debate was organized on current affairs. 40 students participated in the event. Ms. Damanjot Kochar brought laurels to our college by being awarded the prize for The Best Speaker against the Motion. Ozone Day was celebrated in the campus by having a declamation on topics such as Environment Pollution, Ozone-Curse or Blessing and Non conventional Source of Energy. ·*Editorial Board: A quarterly edition of technical magazine T-Zone is published with contributions from students. ·*Renewable Energy Club:The Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES), Govt. of India has given sanction for the setting up of REC in our college. Students actively participate in various activities for creating awareness for Renewable Energy Technologies among the students and people at large ,as per the MNES guidelines. ·*Entrepreneurship Development Society: It encourages team work, spirit of self-reliance among student members and creates self-employment with support from public and private sectors associated with Entrepreneurship drive programmes.
* ISTE: Under the aegis of ISTE Chapter, Faculty Development Programme was organized. Eminent educationists from prominent colleges of northern region and faculty members of Indo Global Colleges interacted with each other in a ten-days development programme. This sharing of knowledge helps the faculty in effective teaching.
* IETE: The IETE students forum arranges frequent meetings of student members together with experts/academic/R&D/ Industry leaders as well as IETE centres executive committee members. Programmes of common interest are also arranged involving students forum at many institutions in the region.
* Consultancy Cell: It provides various consultancy services. The main objective of the cell is not only to earn for the institution but also to open up a two-way communication channel between industry and our graduating students.

Library
The Library is the soul of an academic institution. Keeping this in view Indo Global College has established a well equipped library to fulfill the needs of the students, faculty and research scholars. It has two reading halls and stack area is situated in between these. The library is fully computerized with Vidya library software. It is a multi-user software and networkwith 5 computers. The students can search books through OPAC available in this software. The library has open access system for their users. The online and offline material is available for deep study and research according to the norms and standard AICTE.

Engineering student commits suicide

A Third year engineering student of Indo-Global Engineering College, Mullanpur, Onam Bansal (21) committed suicide by hanging self at her residence in Sector 10. Onams father Ashok Kumar Bansal is the general manager, IT Corporation, Punjab.

Police came to know about the incident at 12 noon. According to Station House Officer Sector-3 police station Inspector Ramgopal, She hung herself with her dupatta in her room. Her mother, who is a housewife, saw her hanging from the ceiling.

Onams father told the police that he was not on talking terms with his daughter because he was upset over her demands of increasing pocket money and not paying enough attention towards her studies.


Company hires 18 students

Lord Swaraj Paul-owned engineering multinational company Caparo has picked up 18 students during a joint placement drive organised at Indo Global College of Engineering at Abhiput in Mohali district. The company has 60 branches across the world. The company is offering a pay package ranging between Rs 2 lakh and 2.4 lakh per annum to the selected students. As many as 830 students from 16 colleges of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh participated in the drive. Indo Global college chairman Sukhdev Kumar Singla said three more multinational companies were planning to organise placement drives on the college campus in the next 10 days.

160 students awarded degrees

As many as 160 students of Indo Global College of Engineering and Management were presented BTech and MBA degrees during the annual convocation held on the college campus today. A gala cultural programme in the evening followed this special day for the upcoming engineers and managers. The alumni also announced formation of an association. Vilphin Vincent, a second year mechanical engineering student, bagged the maximum applause as he doled out one hit number after another. Sukhdev Kumar Singla, chairman, said the institute had achieved another milestone by becoming the first in this part of the region to organise 30 placement drives in less than five months.

He added that in each drive more than 1000 students from different institutes participated. Singla further said such recruitment drives were significant as they provided a common recruitment platform to the companies and the students of not just Indo Global College but also those of other institutes. Director of Indo Global College, Dr S.K. Goyal, principal Dr A.K. Goyal and Inderjeet Singh Randhawa were other dignified personalities among the audience.

21 colleges participate in placement drive

A joint campus placement drive was held at Indo Global College of Engineering by IT major Wipro for its BPO Division, in which students of 21 engineering colleges from the region participated.

The selection process started with a presentation about Wipro by Saju Abraham, CR Manager, and Nidhi Malhotra, HR Manager. From the first round, 148 students were short-listed. After the 2nd and 3rd rounds, 32 students were selected which included 12 students from Indo Global college.

Experts discuss sources of renewable energy

The Indo Global College of Engineering (IGCE), Abhipur, organised a seminar on renewable energy resources. The Indo Global Energy Club, led by Binay Kumar, professor and head of the Indo Global mechanical department, organised the event. The seminar focussed on the “present status and problems in some key areas of renewable energy sources.” The chief guest at the function was S.S Bedi, regional director, ministry of new renewable energy, New Delhi.

Experts from various colleges were invited to share their findings on the subject. Students from various engineering colleges and institutes also attended the seminar.

123 units of blood donated

Nearly 123 donors donated blood in a camp organised at Indo Global Campus, Abhipur near Chandigarh, on Friday.

The faculty, staff and students of all three Colleges — Indo Global College of Engineering, Indo Global College of Architecture & Indo Global College of Education — participated and donated blood.

Mr S.S. Sekhon, Principal, Indo Global College of Architecture, welcomed the team of doctors headed by Dr Neelam from Blood Bank Society, PGI, Chandigarh.

Ms Neelam Singla, wife of Mr Sukhdev Kumar Singla, Chairman, IGEF, was the first to donate blood.

College holds cultural event

A cultural event Mosiac-2005 was held at the Indo Global College of Engineering, Abhipur, near Chandigarh, yesterday. Kanwalpreet Singh and Ginni Priya Kalsi were adjudged as Mr Fresher and Ms Fresher. Bhangra and Gidha were the chief attractions at the function.

Mr Sukhdev Kumar Singla, Chairman, Indo Global Education Foundation, while extending a hearty welcome to the chief guest Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Parliamentary Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of Punjab, highlighted his basic aim in setting up of Indo Global Colleges in the rural belt.
