Profile of CT Institute of Management and Information Technology

The CT Institute of Management & Information Technology provides a creative learning environment where the development of managerial skills and the discovery of principles, concept and values are the primary methodologies. We understand that knowledge can be classified into three broad categories: facts, skills and understanding. Facts are best taught through lectures and other didactic processes. Skills are habits that are developed through experience and practice. Understanding comes through discovery, by asking why and then working out the answers. The learning at CTIMIT comes through lectures, case studies, role plays, simulation exercises, audio-visual aids, etc., as such interactive sessions make up a significant portion of the curriculum. Students do not simply use the tools they are taught but the application and implementation of the concept is more important.

Fauja Singh to participate in mini marathon

Baba Fauja Singh, 94, who has made several world records in marathon, will participate in the CT Half Marathon here on February 25. His name was mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records in the category of the world’s oldest and fastest 90 plus marathoner.

The half marathon is being organised by the CT Group of Institutions for charity.

The marathon will cover a distance of 22 km, starting from the CT Institutions at Shahpur to CT Institutions at Maqsudan.

“In fact, Baba Fauja Singh, a brand ambassador of Adidas, and other people who cannot run so long but want to contribute to the charity will participate in a celebrity fun race being organised at Burlton Park on this occasion,” said Mr Charanjit Singh Channi, chairman, CT Education Society.

Fauja Singh does not run for himself, but for the welfare of others. He ran in New York for the protection of the Sikh identity as the community had become a target of hate crime after 9/11 attacks.

“It is the old who is helping the young,” says the legendary Baba, who also runs for the British Heart Foundation and the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which has been using him as a symbol of vegetarianism.

In 2004, he was called upon to run with the Olympic Torch procession through streets of London. He also plans to run the London marathon once again in 2009.

Derby College members to give training on e learning

Three faculty members from Derby College, Derby, are on a visit to the CT Group of Institutions as a part of an exchange programme. The delegates, Lynn, Rosy and Oliver, have come to train 30 students who have been selected for the pilot phase of this project for an e-learning course.

The trained students will use the e-learning courses, which are being jointly developed by the experts of Derby College and CT Institutions, for monitoring and recording the change in confidence, motivation and discipline. The courses would add value to the existing professional courses of engineering, management, pharmacy, hotel management, retail, insurance and others, the visiting faculty said, adding the students would be ready for the placement process and for handling corporate culture and work pressure. The course content includes interactive activities, web-links, forums and chats, quizzes and questionnaires and feedback.
