SECTION I
PREAMBLE:
The Vichar Vikas Mandal has established the Mahatma Gandhi Mahavidyalaya in June 1969 to fulfill the needs of higher education of the students of rural area so that they can usher agricultural and industrial development. The College is located in rural setting having a campus area of 7.42 hectres. It is a Grant-in-aid institution affiliated to Swami Ramanand Marathawad University, Nanded, Maharashtra. The College was recognised by the University Grants Commission(UGC) under section 2(f) in1972. The College has 3 Faculties namely Arts, Science and Commerce.There are 9 department in Arts, 6 in Science and 1 in Commerce faculty. The Collwgw runs B.A, B.Sc. and B.Com. courses in different subjects. It also runs BCA and M.Sc. courses in Computer Science along with Ph.D. programmes in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Public Administration, Political Science and Marathi. There are 28 permanent, 7 temporary and 9 part-time teachers in the College. 10 teachers have Ph.D. and 4 have M.Phil. degrees. There are 39 technical and 9 administrative staff in the College. The temporal plan for academic work of the College is annual and semester systems. The total strength of students is 746 students out of which 384 are from backward classes. The unit Cost of education per student is 21,395/-. The College has 220 working days. The College has support services like Central library, Computer centre, Sports and Games facilities, Canteen, Health Centre, Welfare Schemes, Vehicle parking shed, and Grievance redressal cell. It has mobilised resources to the extent of Rs.9,43000/-. The College has linkages with Central Institute of English and Languages, Hyderabad, Shivaji University and YMCO University, Nasik.

SETION II
CRITERION I: Curricular Aspects:
The College was established with the mission to fulfill the educational requirements of the society and to create interest among the students to acquire knowledge for achieving all round development. The College offers courses mainly in UG level and one course in PG level. These courses to a large extent are career oriented . The College follows courses prescribed by the SRTM University , Nanded. The College takes every step to bring innovation in the curriculum. It takes a year to introduce a new course. The students have flexibility for elective options only. The College holds seminars/conferences/workshops for curriculum development and forward the recommendations to the Universty for consideration before finalizing any curriculum There is interaction among academic peers and teachers who as members of BOS participate in reviewing and redesigning the curriculum to the advantage of the teachers and the society.

CRITRION II: Teaching - Learning and Evaluation
Admissions are given to the students on the basis of academic records in the qualifying examinations and as per the rules of the Government of Maharashtra and SRTM university. The College has provisions for assessing students' knowledge and skills for a particular programme by conducting class tests, pre-annual examination, seminars, group discussions, viva voce examinations etc. Remedial classes are arranged by the teachers for the weaker students. The teachers give personal guidance to the students for resolving their difficulties. Various facilities are also given to the advanced learners to work ahead of the rest. The teachers prepare the teaching plan in consultation with the HOD and submit the same to the principal for suggestions, alterations or advise if any. The month wise teaching plan is also prapared by the teachers and it is also reviewed. The lecture method of teaching is supplemented by seminars, group discussions, counselling, demonstration, project work, film slides, casettes and record players. The College to its credit has setup a language laboratory and can be used as a centrilised media centre.

This center has internet facilities also. The College has 180 teaching days out of 220 working days. The teachers are appointed on merit basis as per U.G.C. and SRTM University rules. The College has autonomy for appointing temporary/part time teachers. The College has organised 3 seminars/conferences/workshop during the last years. 32 Teachers have attended the conferences and seminars. Three Teachers have attended Orientation Course and 2 Teachers have attended Refresher Course. The evalulation of the performance of the teachers is carried out through self appraisal methods and feed backs from the students. Adequate measures are undertaken to assess the performance of the students. Two faculty members are undergoing FIP Programme. 7 Teachers including the Principal have received National, State Government, University and Local Awards.

CRITERION III: Research, Consultancy & Extension
The College motivates the teachers to undertake. research work, to present their research finding in seminars, conferences, workshops and publish papers in Journals and periodicals. Many teachers are engaged in active research. There are 16 part time research scholars, 10 teachers have obtained Ph.D. and 4 M.Phil. degrees. 6 Teachers are recognised guides of Ph.D. programmes. 3 Teachers have registered for Ph.D. programme. Teachers from Botany Department received National Award and the research scholar recognised as fellow of Indian Aerobiological Society. A student of Botany Department has won young scientist Award. English, Geography and Mathematics Departments have National and International linkages. The teachers of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry offer free consultency services. The college has earned good name for extension activities carried out through N.S.S. and N.C.C. These activities are Blood Donation Camp, Pulse Polio Campaign, Aids awarness Drive, Water shed development, Relief fund drives etc. A number of students and teachers have earned awards for excellence in such activities.

CRITERION : IV : Infrastructure and Learning Resources
The College is located in a rural set up with a campus area of 7.2 hectares. The College has developed infrastructure and learning process to cope with the demand of the College community. The College has its administrative and Library Buildings, well spaced class rooms, Laboratories for the Science departments, language laboratory, Ladies room, Auditorium, Gymnasium and Play Ground. The central library has 43429 text books and 59 journals/periodicals. It has 290 working days. It has Reprographic, Computer and Internet facilities. The College has established the UGC-NRC centre from this academic year. Computer facilities are available in Computer Science and I.T., Physics, Chemistry, Botany Departments and in the Office. The College has good sports and games facilities. The play ground of the college has 2 Basket ball , 2 hand ball and 2 kabadi courts. The College have a strategy for optimum utilisation of its existing infrastrucre facilites. The College has developed a Botanical Garden with Green House in the campus. The ex-students provide medical help to teaching and non-teaching staff and the Students The College has Hostel for poor students only.

CRITERION : V : Students Support and Progression
The College at the begining of the academic session gives detailed information to the students through prospectus. An admission committee of the College provides guidance and counselling to the students seeking admission. The College provides financial aids to students through various scholarships. The drop out rate of students in B.Sc. and B,Com is nil while in B.A. it is only 1.26 %. 9 students have qualified in U.G.C.-CSIR (NET) examination during the last five years. The College has vocational guidance committee instead of employment cell. In order to enhance students' knowledge teachers provide guidance. The students have extensive indoor and outdoor games and sports facilities. The College regularly publishes students' magazine. The College conducts students' development and skill progression through co- and extra curricular activities.

CRITERION : VI : Organisation and Management
The over all Organisation and Management of the College is entrusted to the Governing Body (G.B.) as per rules of the SRTM University and the policies of the V.V. Mandal. The college has transparent and democratic Organisation and management systems. As a result of which a healthy atmosphere is prevailing in the College. It has also an efficient internal coordinating and monitoring mechanism through a Local Management Committee. Moreover it has an in built mechanism of looking after the efficiency of the Non-Teaching staff. There is a special committee for preparing academic calendar as per University guidelines. The Computer Science Department organises Computer training for Non-Teaching staff. The College during the last financial year has a budget of Rs. 19,819,597.90. The College has some welfare programmes like Co-Operative Credit society, Group Insurance Scheme, Pension facilities, Medical reimbursement and Insurance for students. It has a good strategy for resource utilisation. It has a grievance redressal cell.

CRITERION: VII : Healthy Practices
The College rigorously follows a procedure of internal quality checks. The College has adopted a healthy practices at the management and staff level to achieve the welfare of the students. The sense of commitment and innovation are developed among students, teaching and non teaching staff through various activites. The College takes various steps to improve the learning capacity of the students by providing additional facilites. The College encourages students through clubs and association for literacy development. The regular publication of "Pathik" and wall papers are examples of healthy practices of the college. As a commitment to the society, the College undertakes various community oriented services. The College provides value based education and inculcates civic responsibilities among students. The unique feature of the management of the College is that it consists of persons from different casts and different politicals hades but demonstrate close harmonious team sprit.

OVER ALL ANALYSIS
The Peer Team after visiting the College validated the self study report, gone through the official document, looked through the infrastructure facilites and interacted with the members of G.B., Principal, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, Students, Alumni and Parents intends to record the following observations.

The participatory spirit of the management is a unique feature of the College.

The College is ably pursuing its activites for achieving its goals and missions.

The close monitoring of internal quality cheque by local management committee is a mentionable feature.

The College has implemented UGC schemes such as basic assistance for development of the U.G. education, Scheme for seed technology, COHSSIP and COSIP.

The development of students' skills and knowledge is evident from its students topping the merit list of the University in different subjects. More over the College has shown continuously excellent results in examinations of all faculties.

The College organises seminars/symposia/conferences/workshops on various aspects.

The College has established good network with the society through N.S.S .and N.C.C. activities.

The college has earned reputation for its good performance in teaching and learning.

About 6 teachers have received award for their excellent performance in teaching and other activities.

The College has a research culture.

The students have received prizes in education competition in youth festival.

The College has an auditorium and other support services.

The College has earned reputation in various sports and games. 2 ex-students represented in international level and 1 present student in a National Badminton Tournament.

The College has Computer Centre and internet facilities.

The computerisation of central library and office managements' is needed.

The College has developed Botanical Garden and Green House in the campus.

The College has been declared the best examination centre by the SRTM University.

The College has a vocational Guidance cell but it may establish a full fledged employment and guidance cell.

The College has welfare scheme for teaching and non teaching staff.

The College may open a health center with adequate facilities.

The management may formulate a 5 year plan for development of the College.

The College may initiate steps for an effective tutorial system.

The Science Laboratory may be further strengthened

The presence of a separate NCC unit under a Lady NCC officer is a commendable feature of the College.

The presence of a floodlit basketball court is highly appreciable.

The College may open a registered Alumni Association

The departments where research and Ph.D. programmes are in operation may be provided with enough space .

The College may take help of alumni in various spheres for its overall development.

The College may open a separate reading room for the students.

The College may give more facilities for sports and games to girls students.

The College may open Judo and Karate training center for girl students.

The College may open new courses in Microbiology and in Music and Dance.
