NAAC report of Career College

SECTION 1 : Introduction
This institute was established in 1969 under the aegis of Career Society with an affiliation to Vikram University, Ujjain and latter on in 1970 was affiliated to Barkatullah University, Bhopal. The College is spread over 4 acres of lush green campus in the heart of Bhopal city.

The vision and mission of the College is paraphrased as below:
Vision :

The College has the vision to make future citizens responsible in moulding and leading the humanity on a global platform and play a vital role in transformation of our country from developing to a developed one, by imparting quality education and provide the best infrastructure and faculty to the students.

Mission :
College has a clear objective to impart quality education to the youths together with their over-all personality development. So that the students can face the challenges of the globalization.

It also intends to instill Indian values so that the Indian culture as well as ethics can be maintained.

The college offers 29 U.G., 6 P.G. and 2 certificate courses. In the Physiotherapy course only one batch of students has passed out. The hospital attached to the College to facilitate the Physiotherapy course does not form the part of this assessment. For the education courses separate accreditation may be undertaken.

The College submitted the Self Study Report for NAAC in April'2006 and a Peer team constituted by NAAC, Banglore visited the College under the Chairmanship of Prof. B.L.Chaudhary Vice Chancellor, M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Prof. B. K. Oza, Professor & head, Department of Commerce, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Gujrat and Dr. N.M. Kadam of New Arts, Commerce and Science College Parner, Ahmadnagar, Maharastra visited the Career College, Bhopal on 6th, 7th and 8th of December. The Committee visited all the departments and interacted with the management, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and representatives from the Directorate of Higher Education & Barkatullah University in a highly cordial atmosphere. Based on the self study report submitted and above interaction the Criterion wise report was prepared which is as under :

SECTION 2 : Criterion-Wise Analysis
Criterion I : Curricular Aspects
The College is an ISO 9001-2000 certified institution. The College adheres to course curricula designed by the affiliating university. The academics are imparted with pragmatic approaches such as MOCK examination, career guidance, training programmes, personality development etc. It offers BBA, B.Com, M.Com., B.Lib, M.Lib BCA, B.Sc., PGDCA, MCM, M.Sc. Programmes (Comp. Sc., Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry). In Paramedical and allied Science Dept. Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Medical Lab Technology and Diploma in Medical Lab Technology are offered. The College also offers add-on courses as suggested by the UGC in Graphic design & animation and web designing & office automation.

In the advisory Board of the College, educationists, administrators, Sr. Govt. officers and industrialists are helping the institution by their valuable suggestions & services.

The College strives to meet its goals and objectives through well integrated curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities.

Criterion II Teaching-Learning and Evaluation :
The College has a transparent admission procedure and students are admitted on merit basis as per Govt./University rules and regulations. Reservation policy of the Govt. is followed in the admission procedure. The institution offers learning environment by providing various faculties like periodical assessment, remedial classes, spoken English classes, guest lectures, live projects by learned faculties and free & frank access to the faculty as and when needed. The College has students satisfaction research unit (SSRU), computerized attendance monitoring system (CAMS), personality diagnostic and development centre (PDDC), training and placement cell, career alumni association (CAAS) for the students. All these programmes are useful for overall development of the students. Each department is provided with computer facility and overhead projector facility. The Institution has a laid down procedure for the selection/recruitment of the qualified faculty. Norms of affiliating university/Govt. are adhered in the procedure.
The faculty is encouraged to participate in seminars, symposia and conferences by providing them necessary finances and leave. Many of the faculty members have availed this facility which is appreciable.

Teachers are evaluated by the students through SSRU and on the basis of feedback they are given advance increments. The feedback is also used proactively for guiding the faculty members to improve themselves. The proforma for evaluation has been developed by the College computer science department with the help of senior faculty members the design, structure and nature of information sought is highly useful.

Criterion III : Research, Consultancy and Extension
Faculty members are encouraged to do research work in their fields of specialization by providing necessary finance facility. Each department is provided with definite seed money in each academic session and are free to procure necessary equipments needed for their work. Few faculty members are also recognized Ph.D. supervisors of Barkatullah University, Bhopal

The Department of Biotechnology has links with CJIL Agra; TFRI, Jabalpur; CMRI, Dhanbad; RRL, Jammu; CDRI, Lucknow; RDVV, Jabalpur; CHRI, Gwalior; ITRC, Lucknow; RAU, Pusa; IGFRI, Jhansi, INMAS, DRDO, New Delhi etc. for their research work which is commendable.

Laboratories in the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology are equipped with almost all the latest techniques and instruments. Life Science faculty is publishing an international Journal entitled 'Research Hunt'. Faculty has good number of publications in the Journals of national and international repute. The department of Biotech has a financial support of more than 3 lacs for their research projects provided by the management, which is note worthy. The Department has also generated resources through the cell of medicinal plant extract. The College also hosted a science congress of Madhya Pradesh scientists under the aegis of Indian science congress Association, Bhopal chapter recently which received wide appreciation. The faculty of life science also organizes training programmes for teachers and students of Govt. and other colleges of Bhopal and nearby areas. In this way institute is serving the other institutes as well as the society.

In the extension activities of the college. Medical camps, Health and Hygiene camps, AIDS awareness, Girls child day, Blood donation camps, Literacy programmes and environment awareness programmes are undertaken. The Hospital attached to the college also provides free health facility to the needy patients.

Criterion IV : Infrastructure & Learning Resources
The College has well organized and adequate infrastructure with 67 rooms/Labs/Lectures, theaters. It has a well maintained Girls Hostel with 80 rooms. The Library block is housed in about 52000 Sq. ft. area. A Newly constructed and well maintained centrally air cooled auditorium having seating capacity of 800, for extra-curricular activities is available for the College students. A few senior faculty members of life sciences work as visiting faculty in Institutes/Universities of the State. The College has a Central Computer facility with about 60 computers, Internet facility is also available in the College. Computer Literacy Programmes are organized on need basis. Free medical check up camps for students and staff are organized on regular basis Medical insurance for students and staff is a highly appreciable programme. The College students participate in various sports at the University and the National level. The Library has about 18000 Books and 54 Indian and 6 International Journals. The Library provides books, e-library and reading room facility to the students. Each department has computer facility. The central office is computerized with latest software. Departments in faculty of science are having ongoing Research & consultancy Projects, National & International linkages with several agencies which is note worthy. Guest house facility is available for visitors.

Criterion V : Student support and Progression
The institution has sufficient facilities for the maintenance and upliftment of the intellectual and physical level of the student community. Student participation is ensured all the extra curricular activities organized by the institute. Library has a well maintained reprographic facility.

Computer Science department has developed a programme for feedback mechanism which is appreciable. College has its prospectus/bulletin in which all the information regarding admissions, fees, discipline, Scholarships, free scholarships to economically weak students and persons who are the in-charge of these programmes is mentioned. It also furnishes details about the extra curricular activities organized during the academic session by the institute.

The College has a very little drop out rate. Percentage of students passing various competitive examinations is few because of less numbers of P.G. Courses offered. College publishes its annual magazine regularly. Scholarships for position holders and Fee concession for economically weak and meritorious students are made available by the management.

College has a well furnished employment cell. Career Counseling to students is provided. Teaches also participate in academic and personal counseling. Life science students are being given training to write research papers and proposals for various agencies.

Under graduate students can opt for ad-on courses in addition to their routine academic programme so that they can face the growing challenges. College has an alumni association which renders assistance to students and Management. The courses offered are latest as per need of the modern challenges of globalization.

Criterion VI : Organization & Management
College has an advanced technology as it has CCTV monitoring. It has student's evaluation and student's feedback system also. The CCTV monitoring helps in complete vigilance of the teaching system. The College was accredited by BIS for ISO 9001-2000 in the year 2004.

The work efficiency of non-teaching staff is checked regularly by College Principal and Management. Computer Training is also provided to staff members. The College has poor students fund and insurance scheme. The grievance redressal cell works under the guidance of Principal in association with concerned HOD.

Interest free loans are given to office staff and faculty as per requirement. The accounts are computerized with latest Tally software. N.S.S. and N.C.C. units organize various activities like blood donation, literacy campaign/medical check-up camp etc.

The College regularly organizes SPICMACAY programme in the Campus. The College offers medical facility to the students, faculty & general public. The Management prepares the budget for the College and the allocation of funds are made as per the need Most of the incomes are from student's fees and the charges for medical facility. The College has made appreciable allocations for Infrastructure development. The College Accounts were made available to the committee which were audited.

Criterion VII Healthy Practices :
The College has an internal quality assurance cell which carries out internal audit as per ISO protocol. Students are trained by internal assessment and MOCK examination for University examinations. The College has IGNOU centre and PTU centre (Punjab Technical University). The College is self financed and does not receive any grant from central or state agencies. This is a peculiar and commendable feature of the college. The College has developed SSRU, PDDC and CAMS online programs. It has licensed version of Tally for accounts section and SOUL for library. For the all-round personality development students are regularly attending seminars, tutorials and presentations. The College has overhead projector facilities for classroom teachings. Regular career counseling programmes are organized for BBA and commerce faculty.

SECTION 3 : Overall analysis
The institution has adequate infrastructure with well disciplined atmosphere which provides academic pursuit for the faculty as well as to the students. Students get exposure to face the challenges of globalization. Overall growth of the institute is satisfactory and meets the need of the hour. The peer team commends the following aspects. Protesting against ragging, college boy gets beaten up

Bhopal: In an age when everyone from the administration of various universities to student unions are campaigning against ragging, an incident of insensibility has shocked the city. Students in Career College of Management have beaten up a senior when he tried to stop them from misbehaving with his brother.

Devendra Rajput – a student of BCom first year in the college – was in his classroom with his elder brother Narendra Rajput when Devendras seniors entered the classroom.

Devendra told in his complaint that his seniors entered the classroom and started misbehaving with them. The culprits were students of second year. He further said the seniors threatened to take revenge outside college when the victims protested.

When Devendra and his brother came outside the college, they again met the seniors who were earlier threatening and misbehaving with them. The culprits were identified as Raju Batham and Ravindra Batham.Devendra and his brothers tried to pacify Raju and Ravindra but they refused to listen. The culprits began beating Devendra and his brothers. They somehow managed to escape.

Police have registered an FIR against Raju and Ravindra. No arrests have been made yet.
