History: Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) was established on 07 August 1961 to fulfill the growing need for trained architects in the country.andnbsp; It moved into its present building (conceived by Le Corbusier) in 1963.

Details of the Course:andnbsp; The College is affiliated to Panjab University and conducts a 5-year/10-semester course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Architecture.andnbsp; Significant aspects of the course are a 24-week practical training in a reputed architectural office during the seventh semester, and, a 20 andndash; week thesis project in the final semester.

The total annual intake is 40 students, including 5 seats for nominees of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.andnbsp; 85% of the remaining seats are reserved for students from Chandigarh and 15% is reserved for All India Quota.andnbsp; Admission is carried out through the All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architectureandnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp; Entrance Examination (AIEEE). The admission to the First Semester B. Arch course will be open to a candidate, who:

Faculty Position:andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp;andnbsp; The total sanctioned faculty strength is 24.andnbsp; However, at present, we have only 20 members, including the Principal, a Lecturer-in-Art, a Lecturer-in-Physical Education with one visiting faculty in Structural Design.andnbsp; As per norms laid down by the Council of Architecture. 25% of the leaching load is to be assigned to visiting faculty from the field.andnbsp; To fulfill this requirement, and also to make up for the shortage of faculty we have visiting faculty from amongst the professionals in the city.andnbsp; The detailed current faculty position is given in the enclosed statement.

Physical Facilities and Infrastructure: The college is well endowed with essential physical facilities viz. boys and girls hostel, an air-conditioned assembly hall (180 capacity), 2 Audio Visualandnbsp; Lecture Room( Capacity 30 to 40) and 2 class roomsandnbsp; with capacity of 30 each a centrally air-conditioned library with approximately 15,500 volumes, an audio-visual section with all essential equipment, a photography laboratory with facilities for processing black and white photographs, a carpentry/model making workshops, and a museum displaying building materials with all the structural, services and construction models, teaching-aids, models, etc.andnbsp; There is also a 41-seater college bus for short and long study tours.andnbsp; Adequate facilities for sports, a well equipped gymnasium, and art club and facilities for other extra-curricular activities also exist. The college had made significant progress in setting up a Computer Aided Design Laboratory, which is progressively being enlarged and upgraded.

PU denies admission to architecture diploma holders

Panjab University has denied admission in the Bachelor of Architecture course to the holders of three-year diploma in Architecture Assistantship. Archo 07, the 46th annual festival of the Chandigarh College of Architecture concluded here today with a prize distribution ceremony.
